Do you ever need reminders of why you keep trying? I have many reasons why I never ever want to be fat and unfit again, but one motivation is travel. I long to go and enjoy the endless walking without being weary. I want to wear nice things. I don't want to stick out as the chubby North American. Maybe next summer we can go on a trip again!

This is Colmar, France near the German border. Its cobblestone streets are lined with half-timbered medieval and early Renaissance buildings. It is beyond beautiful! We were there to take these photos in 2018. I can't wait to return!

It is really beautiful! Is that Petite France? There’s an amazing restaurant there that I loved called La Corde a Linge that had the best spaetzle. I always loved the blend of the two cultures from the bordering countries. We were lucky to experience two of their Marche du Noels there. The Christmas tree in Colmar was incredible. When the girls are older, we hope to bring them there to see the Christmas market for themselves.

NewnameMM, I actually don't even know. 😔 We were not there very long. We just wandered the streets and soaked up the beauty. We had been in France for just two nights and didn't have much time to linger. I hope you can go back soon! What wonderful memories you have!! It was kind of special since our German friends, who Have lived pretty nearby their whole lives, had never been there, so we got to discover a new place together. In a side street I tasted my very first fig plucked right of a tree! We were supposed to be visiting our friends again and exploring some new places right st this time. We were so sad to cancel our plans, but should we have gone, we would not have been here when our daughter was in the accident. If for no other reason, I am glad we did not go. I would have been out of my mind and the trip would have been totally ruined and shortened anyway. Sometimes even the hard things have a reason.

Beautiful photos! I hope you can get back soon and see the places you missed. Definitely more comfortable to be fit and trim.

You’re right! I am scared of flying even though I took flying lessons, maybe I know all that could go wrong. Plus, I don’t want to put my fat rear in the small seats. Yet, I do want to travel so I’ll keep traveling in mind as I diet. Thank you for sharing the pics! 😊👍

Tom, it is so true! Feeling fitter makes everything about life for fun! Thanks Tiffany, GibJib, and liv! Petra, I didn't mean to make you sad! 😔❤️ Shrewdness, I am afraid to fly. I'm just more "afraid" of missing out, so I grit my teeth and hope for the best! 😁

❤️ I hope you can go back someday, Petra! Since the travel ban means we can't go this fall, I have considered just getting the cheapest ticket I can during some really bad weather time and just fleeing home when it opens up again. . It would not be the same as going with my hubby. I would miss him terribly. But, just being away and being pampered and fed beautiful food by our friends and just relaxing... And forgetting responsibility for a tiny bit... Soooooo tempting! Join me in dreaming?!? 😁

Thank you, Bill! They aren't nearly as beautiful as the place in real life! 😁

Melissa, what a wonderful attitude and outlook to have. I tend to believe that everything happens for a reason too. 💖

I’m lucky enough that pre COVID travel chaos I regularly drove through Colmar on route to relatives just across the Swiss border, that part of France 🇫🇷 and Germany 🇩🇪 running parallel along the Rhine is dotted with such beautiful villages and hamlets

That is so awesome, humpTdumpty! It is so beautiful! The "wine road" I think they call it. How wondeful you got to go through the area so often! We stayed with friends in Bern, Switzerland on this trip, and our daughter spent part of last summer with them. That is a pretty area too!!
