Lots of party food Friday night followed by two regular eating days over the weekend have me back up to 225.5. Will lose most of it this week but need to push through to a new low this week. Too many carbs lately. Will try to begin limiting those more carefully.
101.5 kg Lost so far: 45.9 kg.    Still to go: 8.5 kg.    Diet followed: Reasonably Well.

Gaining 5.0 kg a Week


I hear you, you are talking my story baby! Limiting the types of carbs too is kay but you know all this. Good morning! How you doing apart from that? You had a busy week-end. Are you invigorated or exhausted?

So we can both be 'miserable' together - they say misery loves company! But I know you aren't miserable, and neither am I, just a tad frustrated but we did the crime so I guess we need to take the punishment. I didn't have the courage to get on the scale this morning, I didn't need to see the numbers to know I screwed up (big time!!!!)

I actually didn't feel that full so I thought I may have done better. Been drinking flavored sparkling water which no doubt has lots of aspartame and sodium. Been letting diet drinks creep back into my diet. Need to cut those out or limit to once a week treats. Going to try to not eat carbs at night. Like you, I need to make it simple. I would have no problem gaining and losing the same 5 pounds once I hit my goal weight but I'm not there yet.

Yeah, I hear you, maintenance won't be steady, it will be playing with 5 or 10 lb and I would so love to be able to 'play' but as you say not there yet. I don't have much trouble with diet pop but I don't drink it much. I don't actually drink a lot of anything. I find I spend too much time in the loo if I drink a lot and there is no time at work. But at least you know what causes your up flucs, and you drop weight quick when you get on the ball, so I am sure this week will be a good week for you. (and for me too hopefully). Do you have a busy day ahead? Hope the office isn't so cold today. I had to cover my vents, it's bleedin' freezin' in here again :)

Also read today that the amount of water we need is basically our weight divided by two and convert that to ounces... so I need 14 cups of water a day at 225 lbs! Man, that's gonna be hard to do. I added some today to see how it works. I had already suspected that diet drinks were causing me to retain some weight.

Do you think that drinks sweetened with stevia are as bad (or have the same effect) as diet drinks? I don't drink diet drinks (at least very rarely), but I have stevia in tea (rooibos lately) or coffee. BTW - I'm so jealous of your Annapolis/sailboat/Mike's connection.

Hi SW. I just don't know about it... I don't mind water but I do like some flavor. Did Crystal Light for much of my first year, but eventually weaned myself off it. That happens every time I read one of those articles telling me about aspartame. I will read up on Stevia some more. I actually broke down and put a sugar into a coffee one day. For 16 calories, I figured it was worth it, if and when I really wanted a sweet taste. Yes, Mike's is great. About 45 minutes away for me, but we go every time we visit my brother.

My 2 cents on the sweetener thingie - I think as long as you stay away from Aspartame you should be okay, there are lots of other sweeteners out there. I don't like Stevia much, don't like the taste. And depends how many a day you are having! Water is very boring I admit. I sip on coffee all day. Yes, it's cold by the time lunch time comes but hey, I'm too cheap to throw it out :)

Yes, I do a lot of coffee each day. Try to mix some tea in sometimes. Gonna super hydrate today since I'm at home and can get to the bathroom quickly! Let's see how we do with it...

I only do the one coffee in the morning but it lasts me until about noon :) Sometime I do tea in the pm if I'm cold but there is such a lack of time around here....... I could do with a 'tea girl' - lol.
