Kenna Morton's Journal, 18 Mar 20

Social isolation does not mean you cannot leave your house. It means that you take your socialization outside. My small group of friends and I who are still committed to trying to maintain a healthy activity level are meeting at a local regional park (driving separately) and walking together but maintaining a sensible spacial distance between us. It gives us a chance to socialize, complain about our kids and talk about food and cancelled vacations. For those who have blown off CARDIO for so long—- walking is the hero today. Gyms are not safe and they are closed anyway. Your heart needs exercise but your lungs especially need to be exercised so they can develop maximum expansion capability and strength.

I went for a walk yesterday with my son for 46 minutes. We partly walked a trail in the woods and it was refreshing. I used to walk all the time before I started lifting weights. We walked yesterday just for fresh air and had a great mother/son chat time. Planning another walk today as well, and hoping my daughter can join us. Hubby is at work. Poor guy. We are all doing well on my end and I keep wondering, if one of us suddenly woke up with a fever and sore throat, reality would hit us between the eyes! Stay safe Kenna. You always sound very sound and balanced. I respect you greatly! ❤️😊

Thank you Wifey— I’m much older than many here. This is not my first rodeo dealing with some of these types of things in different settings.. We have always lived in such a secure world here in the USA that most younger people have never had to face anything like this. It will not be our last. The Pandora’s box has been opened.

Yes I agree. I am doing my air walker, walking the stairs at the apartment. Nice days I am walking the block. Trying to keep active and take care of my mental self as well. I do not have a car 🚗 and do not want to do public transportation 🚇 . I have plenty to keep me busy and healthy now that I am over the bronchitis.

I've been doing loads of spring cleaning. Already today (12:25 PM) I have cleaned, washed, and reorganized my kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, laundry room, and fridge. Sweeped, mopped, vaccumed, and dusted. Deep cleaned the kitchen also. Anything to get in movement. I have a stationary bike and resistant bands for more exercise, then youtube for videos. We need to think positive and keep active the best we can during this time and we will come out okay.

Angel face— good for you. Staying active also helps us mentally because we are doing something productive and we feel like we are being useful at a time when most of us feel powerless.

Update— even this low risk activity may be no longer allowed if we have a full blown lockdown mandated. It may happen.
