Dinner tonight was courtesy of my wonderful next door neighbor. She brought me sockeye salmon and the most wonderful side dish made with lots of sautéed dill fronds with cumin, turmeric, garlic and several other spices. Visually it looked like small green peas but she says it is a legume, a bean of some type. She said the name but I didn’t quite get it. Will try to get it or take her to the store to show it to me. She also brought me cubed persimmon. I have eaten very ripe persimmon in cookies, but never raw. Boy was it good. A brand new favorite. Then for dessert she brought me a big container of mango lassi . OMG. She makes the best. I will probably drink 8 oz, but that is it. To rich to drink a lot. Her food is delicious, nutritious and good for the soul.

Keyten— I looked up Mung beans and yes I think that is what it is. Thanks for the hint. It was so good. I would have thought that a lot of dill would have been overpowering but it wasn’t. Just delicious. She proceeded to tell me all the wonderful health benefits of dill that I wasn’t particularly aware of. Going to watch her make i when life settles a bit. She has no recipes at all, just cooks the way she grew up helping her mom.
