Debbie Cousins's Journal, 24 Oct 19

Well, I didn't buy the popcorn at the movies. I ate my Atkins bar and a few grapes. BUT, last night, I got a little frustrated with the little one and I fixed a small bowl of ice cream. I find that when I really want ONE thing, if I don't satisfy that desire with IT, I try to fill it with something ELSE.

That's the main deal with the tapioca pudding -- if I don't eat IT, I'll eat something else to try to take its place, then something else, then something else, then something else, and none of it will "hit the spot." I've also found that my "freezing it" idea isn't really effective. It DOES limit how many of them I'm eating, but freezing changes the consistency of it, and it's not nearly as satisfying as when it is just refrigerated.

On the bright side, MOST DAYS, I have only had one lately, instead of the FOUR I was having every day before I started getting back on track. Yes, I could not MAKE it, but it really gives me pleasure and I have still been losing or maintaining when I'm only able to eat one and try to fit it into my RDI for Calories.

It SEEMS like I didn't get much done yesterday because there is a sinkful of dishes in the kitchen; but I went to Walmart AND BJ's AND I took the kids to the movie and then watched them at my house for a couple hours; so, I need to be kind to myself and realize that I DID accomplish quite a bit.

I find that my mind has become very negative lately. I'm constantly having to try to reverse negative thoughts with positive ones. I want to be my own friend, not my own worst enemy.

Sorry for the early morning ramblings. When I wake up this early, I'm limited on what I can do. The formerly homeless guy has been living with us for over a year and a half now. His bedroom is very close to the kitchen and he wakes up if I try to do the dishes, or make myself breakfast or anything. So, I've got an hour and a half of "quiet time" to kill. Instead of being frustrated by not being able to make noise in my own house, I'm going to focus on all the things he DOES for us: brings in the mail, takes out the trash and garbage (no garbage disposal), loads and unloads all the trash onto the truck for taking to the dump, mows the 10 acres of grass, picks up branches and pine cones, brings in the groceries, etc. Some of that is a BIG help to my husband, who really NEEDS the help with his physical limitations and constant pain from Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.

K, off to my Bible reading and other quiet activities. Hope everyone who trudged through this has a great day!

I have those snacking days when nothing hits the spot. I so get it. Drives me crazy. I love your list of what your room mate brings to your home. Sets the day up with a positive vibe.
