I have a kid with ADHD, one who was diagnosed with PTSD from a horrific accident where she was mowed down by a car while walking and lives with chronic pain, and another who is fighting depression. This is both so sad to see and... Enlightening. Thank you.

These symptoms now have names and and medicine science IS workIng on a viable, doable long term solution so people can have happier lives. We are not there yet. When I first started nursing school in 1966 many people with these mental disorders were still being locked up in institutions— never to get out. We were just at the end of the frontal lobotomy era. We have come a long way baby but we are NOT there yet. The other half of this issue is WHY is there so much more mental illness than ever before.

Melissatwa— it sounds like you really have your hands full. I’m sorry— hard to take care of yourself and everyone else as well.

Thank you. I don't feel the responsibility so heavily as in the past. My lad with ADHD is at school now and learning coping tools. My other two are now adults. One has a therapist helping her. My now 19 year old, who was hurt, is able to even take herself to her own medical appointments. I still provide lots of support to them all, but it isn't so hard for me anymore. It is just so rough for them. Seeing the images you shared is a reminder to me that their "unseen pain" impacts their lives more than even an attentive mom knows. I am thankful I have more time now to take care of me. But, I wish I could make everything all better for them.
