Debbie Cousins's Journal, 07 Aug 19

Today was ok. Not perfect, but fairly ok. Got the caffeine withdrawal headache again today and drank the other 10 oz of the 20-oz Diet Coke from yesterday. Every other sip was water – not as much as I SHOULD be having, but definitely more than I HAD been having! I feel good about the water drinking.

Took the kids to the pool again today. For ten minutes before every hour there is a BREAK where all the kids have to get out of the pool. I keep them occupied by feeding them food during that time. While I was there, I had a CarbMaster Strawberry Yogurt (only 5 carbs) with ½ oz of pecans broken up in it. I also had two pieces of bacon. Jack (age 3) wanted to SHARE, and I had one of his Little Bites Chocolate Chip cookies (about 1.25” in diameter – a really TINY cookie). He wanted me to eat another one but I told him I couldn’t. He also wanted to share some of his Welch’s Gummy Fruit Snacks. I abstained. I did eat some cherries and some watermelon, and I forgot to pack the mozzarella pearls I had planned to bring for myself.

I didn’t do any swimming again. My back is still hurting every day, and I don’t want to exacerbate it any further. Went over on my RDI for Calories today because of the last food decision I made for the day. Day before yesterday, God gave me some croissants. (Someone had put them on the top of their car, and when they turned the corner to go out of the parking lot, they fell off the car into the parking lot. Only two of the six fell out of the container. The other four were in perfect shape.) I ate two of them that day. I gave one to Maebie (age 8) at the pool. That left ONE. I LOVE BUTTER. I love butter ON things! I found out that toasting the croissants in the toaster oven made them light and crispy, and I slathered the two halves in 1-1/2 Tbsp. of butter and sprinkled it with some Kosher Salt (like on soft pretzels). It was a splurge, but it was just ONE splurge (not counting the microscopic cookie).

Mostly, I ate good choices in reasonable amounts. No BM today, so not sure how I’ll fare on the scale in the morning. Well, I hope. I’ve still got a long way to go to get back to the really strict WOE I was following. For now, just incorporating the water, THINKING about exercising, logging everything I eat, trying to stay within my RDI, not eating carbs except for the fresh fruit (blew that one with the croissant!) and posting Journal Entries is a good start. The increased discipline will come.

I have a psychiatrist appointment tomorrow. Still need to find a new medication that is paid for by insurance, which can get me off my one that causes weight gain AND will make me more motivated and ambitious! OKAY, trying to be accountable here. Just so you know, when I’m NOT posting, that is when you really need to be worried about me. Just the fact that I’m posting daily updates shows that at least I CARE right now – a big improvement over the last binge.

Anybody out there weigh about 185 and want to put their money where there mouth is? I’m very competitive (especially where money is involved!) I could create a special challenge where we each put up $10 or $20 into a Paypal or Venmo account, and the person who loses the most weight in a specified period would get everyone else’s money – or the top two people could split it. Of course we’d need to iron out the details to make it fair for everybody, and we’d only want to do it with other people of integrity. I’d say NO FASTING, NO LAXATIVES, no skipping meals (have to eat three meals a day). People would HAVE to record all their food and have their Journal "public" so the other participants can all see what everyone is eating.

Actually, I don’t guess you’d have to weigh the same as me. If we’re competing in straight pounds lost, people of all different weights could do it. I’d be the FAIR moderator and holder of the money. I’m a preacher’s wife, and I can be trusted to safeguard our stash and make sure that it is distributed fairly to the winner(s). Whatcha think? Anybody game? What are your suggestions for making it a good challenge? How long should it go for? Who should be allowed to join? Let me know if any of you are interested! Let’s DO THIS!
