"Stopped Losing Weight? Here’s Why and What to Do About It"

"Let’s recap on why you’ve stopped losing weight and what to do about it
1. You are recompositioning
If you are an overweight beginner, have recently corrected something you were doing very wrong with your training/nutrition, are returning to training from a long layoff, or on repartitioning drugs, you may not be losing weight because you are gaining muscle and losing fat at a similar rate. This won’t show on the scale, but can become evident visually with changes in how your clothes fit you, in before and after photos, and by measuring changes in the circumference of different parts of your body.

2. You are retaining water
Weight loss doesn’t happen linearly, partly because of water retention caused by excess stress and increased cortisol levels. So, essentially, you’re not losing weight because your body is holding too much water which is masking your progress. Consider doing a little less exercise and incorporating refeeds and diet breaks. If all else fails, relax, be patient and trust the process.

3. You are not actually losing fat because you are not in a caloric deficit
The final reason that could be responsible for why you’ve stopped losing weight is a lack of a negative balance between energy intake and output. If you are not 100% certain that you are in a caloric deficit, accurately track your food intake for a week or two and start paying more attention to your energy levels throughout the day."

Right now I'm #3. Sadly, finding it harder to find the motivation to stick to 1200 calories. But at least I'm not gaining and I'm not at all surprised at my results.

If I didn't know better I'd swear you posted this for me, LOL. Squiggly line here.

LZenn- why such low calories? That would be super hard. I'd be saving it for one giant meal. LOL

I have 2 days of 1800 and 5 of 1200 ... or there abouts. At least that's the plan. That way I should lose about a pound a week. The heat has affected my eagerness to cook, though. So lately I've reached for ready made foods instead of proper meals so the calories haven't been where I'd like them.

Yes, I'm definitely on the zig side (/), not very patiently waiting for the zag (\). But I'm staying below my RDI and trusting science. Thanks for the affirmation, Diablo and Princess.

I retain water soooooo bad and it’s not even due to salt. Prednisone ( a steroid is always happening a few times a year and I hate it. And I’m recovering from surgery 2 more weeks till final post op and I’m going hard..

Are you feeling any better, JC?

I am DP❤️ Something was abnormal with a culture but not sure. Something to do with foods not being digested properly. The Carafate and Zofran started working and I’m sure the cheese cubes helped 😘💕

You’re absolutely right. I’m kind of stagnating right now, but we’ve been going out to eat with friends too much—or, rather, I’m eating too much/getting unhealthy food when we go out. I have to change my way of thinking when I get to a restaurant. If I order something healthy—something I’d eat at home willingly—I feel “cheated” for some reason... I’ve always looked at going out to eat as a time to splurge; it’s entertaining and a time for fun. It’s an opportunity to get something I wouldn’t ordinarily have at home—and I’m spending good money, dammit! 😆 See—I need an attitude adjustment about eating out... 😬😬😬

And I’m glad you’re feeling better, jc! I’ve been worried about ya! 😊🎈

Laraae... Me too. Just recently getting a little better at making choices. Otherwise I make sure I'm saving the calories from another day. JC...glad you are feeling better! 😊

I totally get what you're saying. I seldom get to go out to eat but when I do I save up calories and take home my leftovers!
