This is as bad as it gets. If these sell enough to still be a thing a couple months from now, I'll lose some more faith in humanity.

Actually, there's new, interesting science behind this in terms of cancer, tolerance to and efficacy of chemo treatment, and also general longevity coming from the work of an esteemed researcher at USC. There seem to be health and treatment benefits to a level of fasting that most people in the modern world are unable to sustain consistently for long enough to achieve the benefits. Certainly, someone could research and put together meals/snacks that would be consistent with the very specific parameters of a nutritional program that, if strictly maintained, may achieve the physiological benefits of such an extended fast or a Chemolieve program. If these prepared products make such a program more accessible to people in a convenient way, there may actually be health benefits that go beyond mere weight loss/management. The marketing of this product doesn't make that all clear. I did extensive research into this when a friend was undergoing chemotherapy. The science is interesting, especially in a time when America's longevity rates are decreasing and cancer cases are increasing. If such a program can also help with obesity and related negative health outcomes, that's not a bad thing. Yes, people could do the research and do it all themselves instead of buying the bars, but making something more convenient and easier for interested consumers can be a good thing. I could do all of my laundry by hand, scrub like crazy, and get the job done, but I prefer to purchase and use modern appliances and stain removing products. Similarly, there may be merit here, if one considers this from some different perspectives. At a minimum, this bar might be helpful for people who are interested in intermittent fasting for various reasons but find they can't get through the daily fasting window without eating something. If used as a tool to help achieve behavioral change and positive health outcomes, this could be a good thing for some people. Most of us haven't managed to incorporate your phenomenal levels of fitness, physical activity, and good health into our own daily lives. We might find some alternative value in various tools, depending on our own personal circumstances.

If you eat are you no longer fasting by definition right? this is crazy!

It's a bit more complicated than that, Paula. It's about what undesirable/desirable physiological changes are involved with leaving versus maintaining a fully fasted state and how they can be achieved/avoided/maintained in a less rudimentary/severe way. It's about targeted precision versus blunt force.

Kpwcalories, thanks for the information. Looks like I need to do some research.

🤦‍♂️ Seriously? Truth be told there are people out there who believe a "fast" is only consuming less than X calories depending on the program. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a "fast" actually the absence of eating/digesting? I know there are some who think BCAA will break a fast too but I'm still on the fence with that. I see both sides and I don't really know the answer. What I do know is a frickin snack bar isn't going to help a fast! 😂

😂😂😂 Nearly dropped my nail polish at the salon. But let me be quiet. I’m the one who doesn’t log my food, eat everything, doesn’t lose weight but body keeps changing toward better. 🤷‍♀️

OK and how much do they get for these?

This is such crap. The ambiguity alone on their site makes it obvious enough, but they actually do list the ingredients: Macadamia Nuts, Honey, Pecans, Almonds, Almond Butter, Coconut, Inulin, Flaxseed, Coconut Oil, Coconut Flour, Sea Salt, Natural Flavor, Mixed Tocopherols (Preservative), Citric Acid, Ascorbic Acid. Hmmm I don't see magic pixie dust listed. Who knew that a Macadamia nut blend could keep a fast going. If you read through the language on their site carefully you'll notice the subtleties where they do a good bit of suggesting vs making outright claims (which of course they don't back up with any real data, because they can't). Their Prolon product is worse. $250 for a 5 day "fast mimicking diet". On one area of their site they say FMD should not be used by type 1 or 2 diabetics, even with a doctor's supervision, but then also they list a product coming soon, you guessed it, FMD for diabetics. Sadly they have made millions already with this nonsense. As for the bar, they actually do state "Fast Bar has not been clinically tested on its own." So at least they admit they have no idea, but hey, buy it and see for yourself.
