ok after family dinner, this whole keto thing is a bust. I remember why I came off it. so instead of keto I'm going to do just low carb. I'm going to try to keep it under or around 100-120g a day. that seems reasonable. and keto is not sustainable for me. my fiance's family has family dinner a few times a week and so much of the food is carbs that I normally can't eat anything. I have to eat before I go or when I get home and I don't want to feel bad about that and I certainly don't want them to feel bad either.

I love my carbs. Can’t do Keto. I’m with you. Good balance and lower carb intake. Adding more veggies, fruit and proteins.

I agree with you guys! It’s more sustainable in the long run to adjust portions but still have the food you love.

I did keto for 6 months and lost lots of weight. It was great while I was rehabbing an injury but it was never something I could maintain long term. Now I keep my carbs between 135 and 200 ( if I can but I don't exceed 300 very often) and eat more protein and fat. I think you are on the right track as balancing my macros has been the best thing for me and I get to have pizza, pasta, rice, potatoes, and sandwiches (all in moderation) but now I've retrained the way I look at food and know I don't need all those carbs but you still need 100 to 200 grams a day for your body to function properly. I've watched to weight drop easily once I figured out how much carb, protein and fat to eat and if I knew then what I know now I would have been eating this way from the start. I am very active and I'm burning 3800 to 4500 cals a day.

A Keto diet SHOULD NOT be zero carbs. Your body needs carbs to a certain extent. If you are going to go keto, I highly recommend. doing so under supervision of a dietician. Not a “nutritionist” or “dietary coach”. A dietician has gone to school for 7 years.

I don't do keto, but very limited dairy, mostly fish and chicken, and low glycemic carbs (red lentil pasta), and chick pea's beans, etc.. I add them like a salad topping as I only eat 1/2 serving of these.
