Oh my. It is hot here. Working nights, still, but the heat is up, up, up! Last night it was 87 degrees at 11 PM!!! Tonight is a little better - 80 degrees and a little breeze off the ocean will bring it down into the 70's sometime in the middle of the night according to the weather site.
Got my new ac working, even though the official connector parts won't arrive for 10 days - cardboard and duct tape! Hopefully we won't set our house on fire running the hot air through the "pipe" I built out of cardboard.
The birds really enjoyed the cooling - even though the final temp was 80 degrees, the humidity was less than 70 percent in the house which compared to outside at 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity was a major relief!
I am hoping the sweating will result in little weight loss - I am trying to keep hydrated! As I have been complaining to everyone who will listen (both pets!) I have to wear construction-worthy clothing to work so I am dripping! Cotton jeans, polos short=sleeve shirt, CONSTRUCTION VEST AND HAT, and steel-toed boots with cotton socks - man. am I toasty.
I have been focusing on drinking diet soda or water, and not getting the chips that go with them usually - having a hard time keeping 100% on track with eating, but I am recording what I eat so that I can even things out over the course of the week.
Remember when people got into saying "your body is a temple"? I think we should go back to that saying - worship at your temple with care and forethought! My friend actually goes to temple every week - it takes a lot of time to do it right in her religion. Not saying that dieting is a religion, but if we spend some time thinking and following some rules we'll lose weight and get healthy! Trying to convince myself here.
I don't know what got into me today, but I spent about 3 hours tidying up - put away papers, moved little messes into one pile, got the kitchen to where I could sweep it and wipe down the counters - cleared clutter basically. Couldn't tell you why - I was dripping, dripping, dripping with sweat! No AC in the kitchen! Maybe I felt good after the interview at work today - no chance I'll get the job, but they make a fine spectacle of interviewing all the likely suspects before they give it to the person for whom the job was created - not as bad as it used to be, but the government agency I work for has some bad habits! Anyway, I got home, rigged up my new portable Air Conditioner and then promptly left the cooling area to clean up.
By the time I left for work, I had only time and interest in having a pre-mixed yogurt smoothie, which I think put me in the 1200 to 1400 range for calories for the day - Oooh, was that a cool breeze? maybe if this breeze picks up I'll be cooled off enough to record food for the night.
Hope you all have a great Thursday! I have to work on my vacation itinerary so that will be the next journal entry for the week!
