BuffyBear's Journal, 07 Jan 13

I did relatively well (at birthday meal) yesterday. Didn't exactly stay on plan, but didn't jump off the deep end either.

DH started taking his blood pressure meds Saturday morning but they are not sitting well with him. He had the same reaction Sunday. I cut them in half until he can get back to see his doctor - didn't know what else to do since it is not the wisest thing in the world to show up at a construction site dizzy!

Due to this experience he has said he is going to lose some weight and take better care of himself. Of course he has said that before but never sticks to it. Maybe this time?

Rocky - The work your hubby does is very hard on one's health. Hope he continues (diet & exercise) for both your sakes.

Those pills can make you dizzy..but maybe a lower dose will help..I have to agree he doesn't need to be around construction site feeling that way...Hope he does change his WOE..and can take care of him self..but I know what you mean...my DH wants to lose but he doesn't want to put forth the effort..Good luck with that.my friend...:O)

Great work on the birthday meal...sometimes I just get tired of eating the "forbidden" stuff because I feel lousy.

Ruth - Actually I'm pretty lucky to have him. But we all need to take care of ourselves because one of these days we are going to run out of second chances!

Yvonne - Thanks and I sure hope you are right.

Neptune - What really bothers me is his complete disinterest in learning about what is healthy. When something educational comes on the TV he'll change the channel!

My hubby has had high blood pressure since he was in his early 20's. He is fit and eats healthily and exercises regulary, yet they don't seem to want to look into why he still has high blood pressure. As his father died of a heart attack at 43, I hoped they might look further than medicating a fit healthy young man. That said....most 'normal' folks will respond incredibly well to loosing some weight and taking some regular exercise. My own blood pressure no longer needs ANY medication woo hoo!

Di Happy - Good for you! BTW, his doc commented (after reviewing his chart) that his high bp "followed his weight" so the rest is up to him.

Buffy, men can be so stubborn. I think they don't want to admit that they may be mortal! Glad you had a good birthday and did well! Have a fantastic week! xxoo

Stef - If it wasn't so true it would be funny! So good to have you back to your old self!
