Debbie Cousins's Journal, 20 Feb 19

Is there such a thing as NFR's? By that, I mean Non-Food Rewards. Well, if there isn't, I'm officially claiming credit for the acronym. Yesterday, after FINALLY starting to come DOWN on the scales again, I treated myself to a couple small purchases on Amazon. I got some highly-rated egg rings (which can also be used for pancakes), because I've been wanting to make my 3-nut Pancakes to share the recipe with my Challenge group. I also got three different kinds of vegetable peelers. One can be used to make "noodles," and the other two can be used for peeling or slicing in various thicknesses. I want to use those to make my cheezy zucchini nuggets. They should both be here by tomorrow, so I'm excited about that. Getting myself a kitchen utensil gives a much longer "reward value" than eating something!

I just love buying new kitchen cooking gadgets! This is definitely as positive step because, well, let's face it... we don't reward ourselves with food... we're not dogs. But yes, this approach, finding new foods and ways to prepare them help with sustaining the goal of eating healthy. I love the versatility of cooking with zucchini.

I bought a manual spiral thingee but didn't have the strength in my hands to operate it. So, I *love* processing "zoodles" (zucchini noodles) on my Hamilton Beach 70935 Electric Spiralizer (6 Cup Black)! I got it for $37.40 (discounted from $49.99) on Amazon (https://smile.amazon.com/Hamilton-Beach-70935-Electric-Spiralizer/dp/B0768P2CFH/ref=sr_1_28?keywords=spiralizer&qid=1550719627&s=gateway&sr=8-28)

Miraculum... Appreciate your post as I was wondering about an electric one as arthritis makes using the hand held one impossible

Debbie.., I really like your NFR idea and took your advice to reward myself the other day. My husband bought 3 scratch off tickets, which I enjoy , but seldom indulge, and I asked my dog to chose for me. He seriously put his nose on two, which turned out to be a $35 win. Felt good to do a NFR... no guilt afterwards

I just decided to start using this! My reward for completing the fitness challenge I'm currently working on is a new exercise ball! It's kept me motivated and focused.
