Kenna Morton's Journal, 03 Feb 19

For anyone who has read my ramblings may remember that I was attending a very intense 3 day conference this week on obesity designed for physicians, nurses and others on the medical team. I mentioned that I would share information if I learned anything earth shattering. I have so much I would like to be able to share but without coming up with a Reader’s Digest condensed version, It is difficult. I have often posted things on nutrition, micros and multiple other things that I felt were important before, and a few people have let me know that they didn’t particularly want to have to do any reading or learning on their own. — plus there was information on the agenda that a good many people don’t want to know about or because they have such hatred and distrust of the medical community, they wouldn’t believe if God himself came down and presented it on a stone tablet. For now I am just going to say that my beliefs about lifestyle change, not dieting have been completely validated. I am so grateful for that. I will try to put some of the information into aa more organized way of expressing it. Bear with me. For all of you battling this issue. You can do this. You are not alone. The world is beginning to understand more about your issues. —- healthier eating habits, not crazy diets, physical activity on a reqular basis. Ball busting gym routines not required. Healthier at any weight.

Thanks for the update. I am reading your posts. I think it is great that a member here went to the conference and we are getting first hand information. Was there one thing that you felt was the most interesting take away from the conference?

Thank you for this! I appreciate the info that you share, and the way you look at what constitutes a healthy lifestyle makes a lot of sense to me. It's pretty much what I do... I gotta work on the daily exercises tho - having adopted a young exuberant dog last month is helping me with that!! 😍

What I am going to try to do is post things piece by piece following my notes and the syllabus. Dish it out in does so to speak so it is not so much to digest all at once. I will also try to repackage the verbiage from all the technical into a language that people can grasp without intentionally dumbing it down. .

Jessie Quinn— try to replace the term “exercise” with the idea of consistent physical activity based upon whatever your physical limitations are. March in place while sitting in a wheel chair, move your arms while holding a couple bottles of water. Movement is important for general health and to keep your metabolism burning.

Jargon I can deal with. I hate acronyms, though. Looking forward to the reports!

I am anxious to read what you have to say. I have always believed in sensible eating and regular exercise as the key to permanent weight loss. So many of these fad diets get the weight off fast, but it comes back too easily.

Kenna, thank you for this. I was wondering how it went. Since being diagnosed as a T2 Diabetic, with my doctor's advice, I set about a new way of eating that has been more successful than anything I have ever tried before. It's not a diet, I need to eat this way as much as a person with a nut allergy must avoid nuts. Will I be able to reverse the damage done? Only time will tell. Looking forward to reading your report Kenna!
