tahoebrun's Journal, 01 Feb 19

Happy Friday everyone - it is truly a great day because today is Alive day #419. I was waiting to make an entry so that it would be after my Endoscopy checkup. this was the marker to see if what I have been doing is working. well... My A1c is at 5.6; cholesterol is normal; blood pressure normal, Kidney function is normal, Pancreas (yea that guy is on his own little program and not a team player) so in essence all normal. I asked my Dr. and he agreed to lower my insulin down to 16 units and if I still have low BGL I can go to 14 units. We cut my metformin in half and removed the requirement for my Atorvastatin. I am ecstatic at the results as this is truly miraculous (God is great). Becoming willing to listen, learn from you all plus changing my diet and reducing carbs and sugar, changing how and when I eat and paying attention to my health has saved my life. The Dr. and I were honest about my condition (Latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA)- now we have an official diagnosis) and that I will eventually have to do more frequent injections and more insulin as time goes on. But I have shown that I can keep that amount to a minimum. My lesson learned for the week is that I am truly blessed. I hope you all find joy in your journey and celebrate your success.

Well done! Much healthier I think to manage as much as you can with your food. You are an inspiration!

@Tahoebrun, the "inevitability' of more and more frequent doses of insulin for T2 diabetics is "conventional wisdom," but that science is changing! I strongly recommend two sources: Andreas Eenfeldt, MD's "A Global Food Revolution" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-BJzqMbsxI&list=PLEUuOJSs8E10zHx7Y4_dYBsVHE9zMyoI-) AND Jason Fung, MD's, books: "The Diabetes Code" and "The Obesity Code" and his library of diabetes and/or obesity videos on YouTube. These sources have changed my life.

Miraculum - he said LADA, not T2. It's much sadder. :( Sorry to hear your diagnosis Tahoebrun. I'll be praying for you.

And Tahoebrun, I'm a big believer in God healing stuff that has no cure. Don't give up on that. I've had 3 chronic conditions just vanish for no apparent reason other than God is good. Never give up!

That is AWESOME! I am so happy for you...not about the LADA...just the reductions!

@LZenn, there are several opinions on LADA & T2 diabetes -- that T2 is likely "autoimmune" as well as metabolic, and that LADA is on a continuum between T1 and T2 diabetes. Very peculiar!
