A beautiful Southern California day. Suppose to be close to 80 this afternoon. My young friend, THE GENERAL, The Mom and the newest member of their family (SARGENT) Are doing a 10k this morning so I am headed off to meet them at the other end. The Mom is the one I mentored about 4 years ago on her weight loss journey and the young girl, who was 8 at the time. Mom lost 175 lb in a year without dieting she always says. She took my philosophy to heart, ran with it and never looked back. THE GENERAL was an obese child— not doing well in school— the usual story. She is 13 now and a marathon runner. 26 miles. She has done 3 now. The mom routinely runs 10 k. She met SARGENT at a race and they married last year. After Mom lost the weight she went to school to become a life coach and now works for an HMO and is yet again going back to school to be an Associate Functional Medicine Practitioner. A two year program. Quite a success story. Well, I’m off. Have a good day everyone.

Hi-low- I have been doing this with people for the last 40 years. Not on a regular basis and not as a job. Situations just sort of presented themselves. I just celebrated with a couple of ladies who I have been working with for the last 10 months or so. One lost 50 lb and the other dropped 100 lb. the best part is that so far, none of these people regained their weight. Why? Because they did not “diet”, they made a lifestyle change that included a WOE that was sustainable, did not require deprivation and allowed them to participate with the rest of the world in enjoying celebratory foods and events. They also learned that activity is a necessary component to maintain a healthy weight. They learned to say NO THANK YOU. That’s it in a nutshell.
