Have you tried Pork Rinds for a crunchy snack? I just checked out the Kroger ones.
The picture shows TWO servings (2 x 1/2oz). Because they are so lightweight, you get a lot more punch per pound than with other heavier chips and crackers. The 2 servings as shown on the paper towel, have ZERO Carbs, 10g of Fat, 160 Calories and 18g of Protein. If you like them, it could save you a LOT of carbs. Just something to think about. (They also have BBQ flavor, and the nutrient info is the same for them!) Oh, they are also GREAT crushed up and used as "breading" (without the bread) to coat meat or vegetables! Hope this helps!

Kumusta Po? (spelling?) I wasn't sure about the spelling for the Chicharon either! LOL! Our church supports a Philippino missionary couple, Romeo and Kaye Capuli in Northern Virginia. Kaye taught me how to say hello, thank you, and "mehbootay" (spelled phonetically). I know it is a response to hello, but I don't remember exactly what that one means. "I'm fine"???

I like pork rinds very much, especially the fresh ones, but don't know anyone who renders lard any more. They are so good ground up and added to your corn bread batter. There is an exceptionally good brand at Wal Mart and the name escapes me right now.

Thanks, @jan-e333. I'll have to check out their brand. I don't eat a LOT of the pork rinds, because the Proteins are higher than the Fats, and it makes it harder to get the 70% Fat I strive for.
