HCB's Journal, 06 Oct 12

Do you calculate every morsel that passes your lips? I absolutely do, and am well aware of exactly what I am eating when I eat a "bite" of this or a "taste" of that...

We went to lunch to celebrate my friend's birthday and she chose...EEEKKK...The Cheesecake Factory! I did very well, though, and found yummy Asian chicken lettuce wraps for a mere 260 calories. They are a little high in sodium, but I will pound the water today. I also had a delicious green salad with low calorie dressing.

And, then the infamous "bites." One bite of pasta, four sweet potato fries, and about 1/4 of a slice of cheesecake!

All of it is logged and fits into my fat, carbs, and calorie count for the day.

So, be aware and conscious my friends! Those "bites" add up to many calories, fats and carbs if we are not careful to monitor ourselves.

And, of course, I did my Jillian 30 Day Shred DVD to get my sweat on and work off some of the little "bites!"

Still grateful for:

- The people I love who love me back!
- The good health of my loved ones
- My FS Buddies who support and encourage me to continue
- "Butt-kicking" myself to a smaller size today
- My DH - who is my greatest "cheerleader"
- My Bengal cat companions named Bodhi and Ravi
- My work - which has meaning and worth to other human beings
- My connection to the Mother Earth and its entire splendor
- My physical health

You did so well. I hope to learn from your discipline! I do log everything that crosses my lips - that is why my RDI is always in the red. LOL But I set my RDI low to help me stay within reason.

You are the queen of knowing what's passed your lips - I have considered going the route of logging my food on here but have tried it in the past and wasn't too keen on it. Perhaps, like some other buddies, I could log my food on another site that has a more user friendly interface. At any rate, you seem to be so on top of your game right now with food awareness and keeping up with your workouts. Rock on sista!

Wow, HCB, I've never been to the Cheesecake Factory. Mainly because the town I live in, Wichita, KS, is too dinky to have one. Many a person has made the pilgrimage to Kansas City in order to eat there. And you had some Asian rolls and a salad? Good for you! And restrained yourself to eating 1/4 of a slice of cheesecake? Double freaking good. I know all about those evil "bites". Mostly from biting on sugar free candy. I have been so good about that stuff - I haven't had any in the house in about 3 weeks. Very good that you did your JM DVD today, too. Tomorrow I am going to strength training/cardio class at the gym.

Yes - the wraps were quite good (to me) as they had grilled chicken and raw veggies wrapped in big lettuce leaves with a little bit of peanut sauce. They have a "Diet" menu called "Skinnylicious" items. Many of them are high calorie and high carb though - so I researched the menu before we even went to the lunch!

Yes, it is shocking how those bites add up. I have not been to a Cheesecake factory yet so thanks for letting me know that one can eat on plan - if bite are avoided.

My level of awareness is no where near your very sharp perception as that keen perception pertains to eating. I applaud you for your zen like approach! Look what success it has brought you. Hugs! Hugs! Triple Hugs!

Recording everything is the only way I stay on track and I found the same thing, those little bites here and there really add up. Way to go on staying under your RDI, I'm still afraid to eat in restuarants as I'm not sure I can resist all those rich calorie laden foods they offer.

Yes - restaurants do make a challenge for me, too. But, after, I see how I CAN fit my new lifestyle choices into :life: - because maintenance will require the skill to choose wisely!
