I found this interesting. I think underreporting intake and overreporting exercise is a huge problem. I caught myself twice almost forgetting to enter a food item yesterday and I'm constantly reminded of how important a food scale is.

I couldn't type anymore above. anyway, the reason I mentioned a food scale is that even for fruit it is important. I was about to enter a peach. FS has a medium peach at 38 calories. I weighed it and it looks like any other peach and it was actually about 117 calories. I guess in some parts of the country peaches are as small as a golf ball, lol. Around here they are almost the size of my fist.

Yeah, I just bought my food scale. It was interesting how bad my eye-balling skills were on some items. So glad I have it now.

weighing everything is ultra critical, on my cut I will weigh the milk in my tea. grams is the only measurements I use.... 1/4 cup & the likes are nowhere near accurate enough

Yep, I use grams on everything. Glad you have one now, Lzenn.

I read an article a while back that underestimating food intake is a very common occurrence while "dieting" while over estimating activity. I think this is why there is a low success rate for people who diet. I know that I am not 100% but I also keep that in mind and use the information here along with the scale and my blood glucose reading to keep it in perspective. This summary is really interesting. I appreciate your informational posts. thanks.

I've been using grams for everything lately, much more accurate than other measurements.

Yeah, I definitely need to get a food scale. I know my estimation is biased.

it's about time you all get together and give the old imperial system the boot and jump onboard the metric train✊

Yeah, especially high calorie things like dressings and such. The end game though is to maintain without measuring anything... I'm hoping I'm not going to be 70yo measuring every bite eat like a Nazi.

While logging my food entries today I was all excited about the numbers. After an hour or so, something wasn't sitting right as I started to wonder why I was so full from a cup of coffee and a cup of water. Duh, I didn't log a pack of cookies I ate while on a conference call. Entered it and moved on. Great post!!!!

it's why I always tell people that no matter how bad is our day, we have to log our food, I feel embarrassed when I am binging-eating, but I don't want to lie to myself. and about my exercise the app I use gives me too many calories burned, I don't believe that, so I also use the Samsung health app.

Cb the goal is to have tummy adapt to less food, be knowledgeable about calories and to care for our health/weight
04 Dec 18 by member: rosio19
With that one won’t have to count calories anymore

I'll look like Stallone in my 70's so I'll prob still be measuring lmao!

I have seen studies about this exact thing. I always weigh my food, and use measuring cups and spoons for everything. I can eyeball most of it but I still measure.

I’m planning to stop weighing my food and gain 10-15 lbs and be happy....not happening anytime soon

I was planning to not count calories at Thanksgiving dinner but I did it, I know that my calories where not accurate but I did my best, I can not stop thinking about calories when I am eating. 😶
