Kenna Morton's Journal, 03 Sep 18

I have been following this information for a while now and it is now in all the mainstream medical journals. I know, I know— athat makes it an automatic discredit by many of the FS participants, but for others it may be that little bit of extra added “motivation” to get on track or stay on track.

Interesting read. I'm guessing the discussion of small strokes they would mean TIA's. I know several folks over the years experience these and not develop dementia. Then again, most dementia folks I do know can do a wonderful job of hiding their disease. I guess the greater part of the article which seems to be missed is 'How do we get people to be proactive?'

Terrapin12– and that is the million dollar question— insurance companies are paying for gym memberships, “special scales” that send info to a diabetic clinic, special shoes, food scales, diabetic education classes. How to get people to deal with this BEFORE they are sick would be like winning the lottery. I’ve tried in my own world without a lot of success and now am dealing with friends that are dying at a rapid rate and have serious heart and diabetic complications who STILL refuse to adapt a healthier way of eating and living. I officially have no friends remaining who are capable of even doing the easy hikes that we have always done. There have always been 9 of us— two moved away. Runners both of them. The remainder have become old and sedentary and sick.

Avocado oil, grape seed oil, walnut and olive oils are all god choices.

I am sorry for your lost friendships. It is hard to watch people slip away when you know they can do something about it.

Thank you for this great information. I've been on the weight loss journey for years with success but gained it all back plus. I had to get Serious in July when my medical well visit revealed a high A1C. This surprised me because in October of last year my fasting BS was 92. I guess those cookies caught up with me. I've lost 20 lbs since July & have basically cut out sugar except what I get in fruits. I'm really trying to limit my fruit which I love. I just discovered this app while I was googling calories & counting calories. FS has opened my eyes to so much hidden sugar & carbs in what I normally eat. Y'all, yep I'm Southern, have been an inspiration!!! The journey continues...

So scary! My dad was diagnosis’s with T2 back in 1992. He is just terrible. Eats whatever he wants, gets terribly sick and then he’ll be good until the shots and pills start working again and then he’ll regress again. Brakes my heart.

I think there are opportunities in each community for better awareness and chances to improve individual lives prior to the onset of diabetes. I think we know a few things about the disease and with type 2 I often remind people simple changes is what needed, nothing drastic. For some though, crisis medically and change do not go well together. People like constants and change is difficult. I am so sorry for your loss; the information you provided is always interesting.
