Danana's Journal, 31 Jul 18

I am sure many will relate to what I am going to say. I have done such a great job eating healthfully this summer. I hope that feeling this well with motivate me to avoid all the junk available at work when I return in two weeks. I feel 20-30 years younger and I don't want to return to feeling fuzzy headed and tired all the time. I am not one of those people who call have a little treat. I am an all or nothing kind of girl, kind of like a shark feeding frenzy around anything starchy! One little bite of refined carbs and I am gone.

I think now that you have had time to enjoy yourself and your new eating well mode you will not want to go back. It makes it much easier to resist I think.

That's what I am hoping!

I relate to everything in your post! I feel incredible after my weight loss and NEVER want to go back! BUT, I’m also all or nothing so it’s a slippery slope and I’m always just teetering in the edge.....

does anybody know how to change the goal

@Solweigh, I believe you can do that on the FatSecret website on a laptop. I don’t go on there often, but saw that option last time I did. I am also contemplating changing mine.

@Danana I am the same way. I know if I break my woe just once - it is all down hill from there. Knowing that is half the battle I think, because we can be faithful in monitoring what we do consume.

Solweigh, when your asked, for your current weight, there's also an option to change the goal weight.

Get yourself a little bracelet, pin, a picture, a coffee mug or something that will trip your brain to remember to focus. Moderation is a hard life style but you can do it... Just learn to laugh at the donuts, croissants, scones... etc.

I document EVERYTHING I eat on my food diary here, which is public. That alone holds me accountable. I am also a little bit obsessive about how my macro circle looks at the bottom of my daily diary and that helps me make good choices. Finally, after having very limited carbs and zero refined sugar for several months now, I have no problem at all walking right past the goodies. They don't even hit my radar as food.

The big challenge will be not eating things that my students give me while they stand there with those eager expressions.

I'm a teacher and I can relate to your dilemma. On students' birthdays, treats are shared with everyone in the class including me. I usually thank the students profusely, put the treat on my desk and tell them I'll eat it after lunch or whichever meal is closest. Then, I discreetly slide it into the bottom drawer of my desk when no one is looking and toss it after school. It usually works for run-of-the-meal treats, but I have to admit if the birthday treat is REALLY fabulous like malasadas, or "cocoa puffs" I'll eat it. Maybe I shouldn't admit to that....;)

“Oh that looks yummy but I’m so full- I’ll have it later” I sometimes say on the outside. On the inside I remind myself that 1 is too many and 1000 is never enough so I’m going to have 0 😀 Especially when it comes to sips of sugary whip cream coffees. Also effective for pretty cupcakes.

Refined sweet carbs is like starting a terrible hunger and craving war for two days for me. Can probably never be used as a meal ever. But I do consider allowing them in pathetically small anounts as dessert only after a good proper meal first. Think that could work as a lifetime rule.

I never thought I would like the journaling, but everyone is so nice and supportive. I appreciate the fellowship! Best to everyone.
