Bev, I have Dr. Mercola's "Fat for Fuel". He discusses briefly coming out of and returning to keto. This is a great decision for you. You are doing well.

I`m partially leaving Keto (not totally, still high fatbecause I live it) and first thing coming to my head is grapefruit or oat bran with banana and wild blueberries or even natural full fat yogurt with mango and honey (so sweet) and I love it!

I don’t find the things I once craves satisfying anymore 😩 I am also doing carb up days, today will be a homemade split pea soup with bacon... 🤤 I really hope it is as good as it sounds!

Oh, yes - it'll definitely change you taste buds - you may have better results dabbling with spices in/in your food?

When I eat sugar any or more, it goes boing on my stomach and I feel sick.

I really don't crave things anymore I guess it's a mindset

I definitely do not crave the carbs as much but will through in a few cheat meals occasionally. After being Keto for over 6 months, an occasional cheat is not big deal and keeps you sane.

Ha! I had bread pudding last night followed by a stomach issue this morning. Coincidence? 🤣

What is the logic of doing "carb up" days? Don't you risk giving up fat burning adaptation and returning to a glucose - fueled metabolism?

Well @gz9gjg As I said above I should do a day of carbs every 15 for my thyroid. And I read a lot about ketosis and quite a few studies say that going out from time to time of ketosis keeps the metabolism flexible. Also returning to ketosis is not that difficult, in 24 to 48 hours the body returns to the process of burning fat. So it works for me in particular.

I always think of a carb day like a wind up toy... when I first hit ketosis I seem to drop weight fast. Then it tapers off... so it’s like rewinding the toy and starting up strong and when I notice the fading out period I carb up. It can be between 10-25 days for me. And for me it’s part of the process
