Weekday walk number 2: 1.3 miles in 27 minutes, at 2.88 mph - remembering when I walked (road-marched) in the Army at 4.6 mph (walking not running, with a 40 pound pack, in boots)... got a WAYS to go.

You are doing great!! Just a suggestion (based on what I've read and personal experience) but rather than going for increasing your speed (intensity), you might consider staying at a pace that feels "moderate" to you and increasing your time (duration). For an equivalent amount of calories, the latter is supposed to burn more fat.

Appreciate the encouragement Jenibeann, rhills - given that I do this at lunch (while at work) time is the biggest hurdle as I only got but so much to knock this out.
