Does anyone out there want to do a challenge with Dianne just to try her food and exercise plan? Easy/simple. We could do it for 30 days. If you follow it honestly I promise a 10 lb weight loss st least and a drop in blood pressure. Here is what I do: Breakfast: 8 ounce sweet potato and pile of cooked kale. I buy it fresh and microwave it till soft. Lunch: 8 ounce baked russet potato, 6 ounces green veggie-any kind, broccoli, zucchini, etc. I bake tater in microwave -get the plastic wrapped ones from Publix-mush all together and topic with 22 grams of air popped pop corn. Dinner: basically the same. Vary veggies so you do not get bored.I snack on celery sticks too. Walk at least 1 to 3 miles everyday. Work out 3 times a week. If you belong to a gym, great. If not you can lift weights at home, do some sit ups with knees bent, push ups, etc. Planks are good too. You tube can demonstrate easy at home work out. Ok..if anyone wants to try it, please let me know. If you can walk run better still. Consider joining a running club in your community. Many people walk races now. I do and just finished 3rd out of 5 in my age groups on a July 4th 4 miler on Daytona Beach. There is nothing better than crossing that finish line.

I would consider taking your challenge, but the higher level of carbs would skew my results as the glycogen replenished and no doubt there would be some measure of water retention. Would be interesting, but really not fair, as I would more than likely gain and not be able to shed it back off before the end of the thirty days. My guess is, if it worked for me, it would merely bring me almost back to where I currently am, or worse, I would gain and I know this going in, and I'm really not interested in trying to discredit your diet, me, personally, I would have to commit to a longer time frame and I'm not currently willing to do that. Just on a side note, I've been LCHF for over a year, I see a cardiologist every three to six months and have since 2002, my current state of health is better, exponentially, than it has been in all of those fourteen years. Best shape of my life, honestly. I'm impressed with your dedication, passion, and consistency, and as I commented on your post yesterday, you're truly inspiring and a great example for everyone, but one diet can never be suited for all people, for those that your diet is a good fit for, I truly wish you all all the success in the world!

Where is your protein? Much as I LOVE potatoes, I can't see this being good for me. Sorry, I can't join you. jelly belly

Dear Jelly, We have been sold a bill of hoods about "protein". There is tons of adequate protein in whole foods. Eat a good vegan diet and you will get adequate protein. I get about 30 to 35 grams of protein daily. Americans are killing their kidneys and bones with too much protein. Protein leaches calcium from the boss to keep blood at an alkaline level. it's the meat and dairy industry that are killing Americans and polluting the environment with these huge pig farms, feed lots, etc. Read up on it. World Heath Organization says we need about 21 grams of protein a day. Seriously..please do some research. Watch Forks Over Knives, read the China Study, etc. Plus if you want tons of protein eat beans and rice. Google this stuff. please check it out. And look at the Peta website and tell.me if you really want to eat any product from a slaughterhouse. Not me. I have done my research. I am thin and healthy on my food plan...been working for 6 years. Google Dr.John McDougall or Dr Caldwell Esselstyn. Watch them on You Tube. Edelstein is Clinton's doc. Bill Clinton can afford the best medical advice in the world. Especially if you are struggling with getting and staying thin...I am not..that must give me some credibility.

Bones..not boss. Damned spell check. Goods not hoods. Just consider reading up on my food plan. People scarf down tons of meat and fat and are terrified of an 8 oz fat free potato with like 179 calories...that is crazy...they are struggling with weight, I am not and yet they are telling me I am on the wrong food plan. Not adding up to me dear friends.

Dianne you have got a good thing going. My wife always says don't deprive yourself of too little carbs, so I am with you there. I would do it, but just trying portion control right now. Thanks though, you are protecting animals and that is wonderful.

My husband says I tend to lecture..I know I can come off like that..my desire is really only to help and I believe so strongly in this plan because it has worked so well for me for 6 years..thanks for reading through all this stuff, anyone who did. Dianne :)

I don't think you are lecturing; you believe strongly in this. I'll try it for one to two weeks. Your exercise plan sounds similar to mine, so that won't be a problem. I totally agree about the fat and protein. Animal protein is hard on the kidneys if you are eating it in excess. Meat is almost completely out of my diet now. I eat it 2x/week.

Thanks Engeland. I eat 3 potatoes a day. Sweet potato and kale for breakfast, lunch and dinner essentially the same. Microwave russet potato with chopped up green veggie like broccoli or zucchini. Topped with 22 grams of air popped popcorn. My husband makes me fat free vegan ice cream made with tofu, soy yogurt, almond milk, alcohol free vanilla, artificial sweeteners and we use an ice cream maker. I am figuring that at about 100 calories. Lately I have been eating lots of celery which is high in protein and very low in calories. That is basically it. I take an eye vitamin for my eyes. Had cataract surgery that did not come out well back 2012 and I have early macular. One reason I eat lots of kale. And work out 3 times a week and try to walk a minimum of 3.1 miles a day, a 5K. I drink no alcohol, take no mood of mind altering drugs. I do drink a lot of black coffee. Which is of course CNS active.

You are doing very well on your weight. Congratulations. Fast steady decline. It's all harder after 50 and certainly 65. Am getting that. Old age ain't for sissies baby. Will be 69 in August.

Thanks. That's why I am getting to business now. I am not going to be that over the hill, obese woman who is taking medication for bp, bs, etc. I don't drink black coffee anymore. I was noticing spikes in my bp after drinking it. Plus, excessive amounts isn't great for your bladder. Celery high in protein? Never heard of that.

Celery is actually high..also high in sodium...I love chomping on hard stuff..dissipates all that hostility I have...Weighed 117 at docs, kidney value s best in a long time ..GFR is 59..60 is normal..BP taken sitting 116/74 Standing 92/62... Was thrilled with everything..Dianne may make it to Christmas.. Back on food plan too which is good.
20 Jul 16 by member: DianneGardner
I am not a celery eater. I use in recipes occasionally. Well, of course you will make it to Xmas. :)) I am going to try your food plan for a week just to see what happens.

How many grams of protein are in a stalk of celery? According to my source it isn't high. It isn't that high in sodium either. Not sure what you consider "high."
20 Jul 16 by member: Engeland
No protein in celery.
20 Jul 16 by member: trackin64
@Trackin..........there is some, but it's such a small amount that I wouldn't even consider it as a protein source.
