SOMETIMES, YOU JUST NEED SOME BACON.

14 weeks in, 15 lbs. down, and I am beat. My body has begun to fight back and the lethargy has become unbearable.

Don't worry, I haven't given up, nor will I. Today, I just need to go off diet. That doesn't mean Ice cream cupcakes and cookies.. What it means is that I will not be sticking to my macro or calorie goals for today, nor will I be tracking my food here on FS. I started to plan the day today, and realized that I have felt pretty poorly for the past 2-3 weeks, my lifting sessions are suffering, my work is suffering, and my poor wife has had to put up with me being cranky every day.

SO! as I write this, I am eating a BACON egg and cheese sandwich.

Tonight's chest, shoulders, and triceps session at the gym is gonna rock!

The LCHF folks live on that kind of food daily, lose weight, and seem to have lots of energy. You might like that way of eating.

Bacon, egg, and cheese....I think I can smell it through the computer. :) Enjoy it!

kpwcalories, I eat instinctively. I avoid foods that make me feel "bad" and eat foods that make me feel good. When I am not trying to lose weight, I have no issues. Its the prolonged calorie deficit that is the source of the lethargy, not the types of foods I eat. The bacon egg and cheese was just a surge of calories and flavor to make me feel better, and it worked. It's not a meal that I eat very often, mostly by choice.

Hey Chad, no worries!! 8 people out of 10 would agree that bacon makes them feel good and the other two are chronic fibbers...before everyone jumps on how bad it is for us, in small quantities it sure helps change a bland meal into something special.

Love me some bacon.... every Saturday morning I get two crisp delectable strips. Yummy! I just wish it were cheaper by the pound.... the non name brand generic is 6 bucks a pound! Yikes! have to look at the cost. Eggs are my staples usually. They come straight from my flock of ladies... who eat bugs... and water and more bugs... and Cheese is straight from heaven... yummy stuff with a nice pint!

When I have my cheat days (you GOT to have em every now and then), it usually involves bacon too.

I did back and bis on Tuesday. Still my favorite workout by far. Though a good Triceps pump is tough to top.

Gotcha. Makes sense to me and isn't so different from what I do. Interestingly, the LCHF people claim to be able to maintain a prolonged calorie deficit for dieting purposes *without* concomitant lethargy, which is why I threw that out there. For one way of eating, the calorie deficit may be sufficient to cause lethargy, even though it may not be sufficient (and the lethargy may therefore not be necessary) for another way of eating.

when i'm cutting (typically the month of January), then a strict LCHF diet is what i'm on in a high calorie deficit and even with intermittent fasting i'm never short on energy and have by best workouts when i'm fasted.

Good for you.

Only 4 weeks? I'm loaded with energy for the first 4 weeks of a cut. Its this week 14 stuff that's got me.

Still have 6 weeks to go, too.

:-) i'm never that far out of whack that I can't fix it in 4-6 weeks

Haha. I'll get to that point. I started lifting at around 130ish pounds of lean mass, and 204 pound body weight. Its a process getting lean without losing what I've built over the past 3 years. Normally I don't let it get away from me like I did this time. Got real strong though.

Bacon is awesome and a staple on my diet. I can't do eggs, they give me indigestion.
