I had a really bad day yesterday. I got up at 4am with acid reflux and it continued all day it would ease a little and then get bad again, it's still bothering me some today but at least I feel like I can function today.

I'm going to change my diet a little and see how it goes. I'm going to only have my shake 2 or 3 times a week and try to eat the pumpkin seeds or walnuts as a snack because I want them in my diet. When I have my shake it makes me feel too full and I've tried making a smaller one without luck. As hard as it is to believe I'm missing eggs for breakfast, I know that sounds strange as much as I complained about eggs before, I guess I can never be satisfied. And I feel better about eating eggs since my lab work was ok.

I'm working really hard to stay on on an up note because my Merlin was sad when he saw me feeling bad. He will always be my precious boy but I've got to work at remembering the good times and not think of that last evening and morning.

An update to those of you who prayed for my friend ,Sandy, she home from rehab and doing as good as expected she will have out patient rehab on her knee 3 times a week for a few weeks. Thank you all for your prayers.

I hope this is a good week for all of us.

I will loose this extra weight one day at a time because I want to and I need to. ONE DAY AT A TIME!!!

My diet says eggs, the entire egg is good, and my diet hates a lot of foods. Almonds and nuts are a good snack. Not sure what the shake is, but you might lose that. Hope you are feeling better.

Maybe you are not digesting the shake and it's sitting in your stomach too long? Here's something I know that works for reflux when it occurs - eat some raw celery. (I think that's ok on any diet I can think of.) Celery kills reflux quite quickly, and if it returns, you can always eat more celery. It's quite remarkable!

Thanks for that info, Trackin! I, at one time, had trouble with reflux, antacids would help too.

I suspect sometimes reflux isn't excess acid but a lack of acid. The celery cure circumvents the need to know. Also helpful is mint tea. Chewable papaya enzyme tablets (sometimes with mint added) work quite well too.

What are the ingredients in your shake? Whey, casein, and other common protein shake ingredients can be difficult for your body to process - making you have that overly full feeling. My boyfriend likes sun warrior and plant fusion brands of protein powder because they don't cause him any discomfort. He has also had problems with stomach acid in the past, but he has found that eating more vegetables (he particularly likes brocoli and bell peppers) helps him manage it.

you look like your food is on point ,, are you really eating almond Joys or is that just a name for something else ? That could be the culprit of the reflux

The main reason I added the shake was because it made it easy to get raw pumpkin seeds and walnuts in my diet also flax. I want them in it because they help keep blood pressure lower. I've decided to use the seeds and walnuts as a snack haven't figured out the flax yet.

@trackin64, how much celery should I eat? I don't do well with mint but I do want to try the celery.

@Tamarah Jo, the almond joys aren't the candy your thinking of. It's a LCHF fat bomb recipe I got from here I wish there was some way to adjust the name to reflect that but it's not my recipe so I can't change it.

Typically 1 stalk of celery will stop the problem. If it comes back in a half hour or so, eat another. I've never had to eat more than two. It's low in calories, carbs, non-fat, vegan so as far as I know you can probably eat it forever. Another thing to consider is that chewing food helps begin the digestive process - many enzymes come from your saliva. If you are taking in your food as liquid, pretty much all the digestive process is going to have to take place in your stomach and gut. Drink these drinks slowly. It might be better to actually chew the pumpkin seeds and walnuts to make them more digestible. That's how our bodies were meant to perform.
