Broccolibabe's Journal, 14 Jan 24

I have been logging my food for 5 days now and have lost weight! Very happy with my progress. I ate some extra snacks that I wasn’t planning on but wrote them in and didn’t get down on myself about it. So feeling like it’s a good start. That being said, I usually start out strong and then stop logging and then start eating more and more. So my goal is to just be consistent with my logging food. It will at least keep me honest about what I’m actually putting in my mouth. I’m heading out to the grocery store now to get some healthy food for the coming week in the house. It’s 7° out with 45 mph wind gusts, so wish me luck! Stay warm, everyone!

Good job with logging and weight loss! If it was that cold here, I wouldn't go to the grocery store. I'd find something in the pantry and freezer and probably not on my food plan. But I keeper canned food for times like that. Good store grocery shopping. I have to go when I am not hungry and only look at the list. It's so easy for me to make impulse purches

Thanks for the encouragement! I will definitely keep logging my food. It truly does help. And yes, it’s terribly cold, but the sun came out and the winds are dying down a bit, so it wasn’t so bad. @Fritzy, I would have waited to go shopping until later in the week, but it’s supposed to be frigid all week and the fridge is pretty darn empty. I did my best to make healthy choices, but I did get ready to bake chocolate chip cookies. I just want one or two…the rest will go to my husband and my son. I’m making Hungarian goulash and spaetzle for my son’s birthday meal (his request). I will send the leftovers with him so there won’t be any temptation. I also picked up some cod for fish tacos tonight and a package of chicken tenderloins to cook later in the week. Enjoy the weekend!

Welcome to a great site, lots of support here and lots of success stories to inspire you. I have found that honest logging of everything I eat, and weighing my food (in grams) helps me to make better choices. Good luck on your journey.

Glad to see you here 😃 Logging is a great tool, so I hope you'll keep at it. For me, it was an eye-opener at times and it taught me a lot about what I needed to eat to nourish myself without overeating. Good luck! I know you can do this 👍 We're here for ya!

happy shopping. same situation for me. start strong and fizzle. not journaling equals poorer food choices/grazing.

If you use the My Favorite Meals and My Cook Book. It can be a little less tedious.

Thank you @Writingwyo! It CAN be a real eye opener…what you THINK you ate vs. what you REALLY ate!

Thanks for the advice @Bmr1. I will give those a try.

You’re absolutely right @Keeponkeepon. I really do believe journaling is the key! Hoping both of us can keep going and avoid the “fizzle”!

@DAZEY_iz_Well Since most issues with overeating stem from emotions and avoiding feelings, working on your issues, however painful, will ultimately bring you success. Good luck. Be brave.
