Thanks 🙂 I'm just gonna keep going. Simply abstaining from binge eating is a win for me👍

I agree about the binge eating. So important to leave that behind.

Do you happen to know what is the suggested fasting schedule for someone about 40 pounds overweight and 67 years old?

Ruthblake - I'm 69 and have lost 75 lbs. For intermittent fasting I suggest dialing in to YouTube and watching some Dr. Fung, Sten Eckberg and Dr. Mindy Pelz. Start by eliminating snacks, and refraining from eating for at least 12 hours (for instance from 7PM to 7AM). Then once that's a habit, you can start stretching the 12 hours to 14, 16, 18 or more. Keep learning. Fasting is a practice, you will develop preferences and skills.

@ruthblake, I agree with Erika that it's prudent to educate yourself about fasting. It's important to know what hormonal changes occur during a fast, and why fasting is beneficial. I belong to The Fasting Network facebook group and Megan Ramos, the RD who works with Dr Fung, raves about "the golden 42." It's where you start fasting after your evening meal, consume only water, coffee, tea (without sweeteners) the next day, then break your fast with lunch the following day. Example: finish eating 6:30 pm Monday, fast that night and all day Tuesday, break fast with lunch on Wednesday 12:30 pm. Do a couple of those a week and you will see results.

The only diet that works for me is the Scarsdale Medical Diet. Two weeks on Two weeks off until you reach your goal weight.

@jaye, it feels good to share what works and what doesn't. I enjoy the support and exchange of ideas at FS. Diets don't work for me. Abstinence from overeating and fasting works for me 🙂

I wish I had your will power and determination to go 3 days! But I'm constantly surrounded by food. Good luck!

Thanks Z ❤️ @DO N OK, fasting gets easier as you practice and really doesn't take much willpower 🤷‍♀️ I'd say the road you are on, having lost over 200 lb already, required a lot of discipline and willpower 💪Very inspiring! 😊

I'm with you Lady D! Sunday night starts the fast, my daughter turns 40 Monday.....it's making me feel rather elderly having a 40 year old daughter! I agree, the fasting does not take much will power, putting food aside and not thinking about portion control, macros, calories, cooking, dishes, leftovers, time taken to cook and clean....it's actually a relief to fast for a few days, a mini vacay every week LOL, it's free and saves on the grocery bill!
