CrystalJo74's Journal, 11 Apr 23

Hello FS friends😎
I know I haven't been posting lately, but I DO check in on how you folks are doing.

MY fitness journey is pretty much a big zip, zero, zilch situation right now. I've got plenty of excuses...but no good reason, to be so undisciplined with my eating choices. I KNOW BETTER! My will-power and resolve have DISSOLVED!

I was soooo 'good' for soooo many months, but it ain't happenin' these days. That's why it's difficult for me to show up here on Fat Secret and face y'all. I'm working with my physicians to try to find out if there's medical reasons that I'm still gaining weight, legs swelling, increased pain/stiffness. It's possible that the change in biologics for my psoriatic arthritis, combined with smoking cessation & winter humdrums have me in this spiral.

Our treadmill bit the dust, which leaves the elliptical machine and my YouTube workouts. Maybe when the weather finally turns nice, I will get more exercise doing yardwork, etc.

Thanks for your support, in good times AND in bad! You guys truly make a difference when folks are struggling💙

Sorry you are in a rabbit hole and you need your why to pull you out! Good that you are checking in with the doctor. My mom was gaining weight all of a sudden and it ended up being one of the medications she was on.

I don't mean to proselytise (she says, proselytising like a mofo) but I see you're high carb, low fat, and I am wondering if you have looked into low carb, high fat ever? I am finding a lot of health benefits on keto, that might interest you. No longer getting massive nausea 3 or more times a day, no longer tired and desperately sleepy, no longer hungry all the time. Not thinking about food is a big one, you know how you feel about fags, where you no longer think about them now the addiction has left? carbs are addictive too (or at least are to me) in that if I eat high carb I am always hungry, always thinking of hte next meal. High fat (not high calorie, go look at my food calendar, just high proportion of fat) leaves me satisfied. Also, fat is a requirement to build your body's cells. On my profile are a couple of links, you would need to remove spaces to follow them (just to youtubes, nothing dodgy). Sorry for ranting on, just have had so many health benefits going low carb I can't seem to tell enough people to give it a try. xx Sorry about the lymphoedema and general health woes. Take care.

Crystal, I'm so sorry you're feeling bad & having health problems again. Yes, I remember your journey & beating the lymphedema. I know it looks bleak now, but you will get back to doing well again. A person can't have all the determination you have and not eventually do well. Motivation & self control come & go I've found. It sucks when they go. But, they do come back. Sometimes taking that first step is all you need. I hope your Dr's can help straighten this out, too. Hugs 🤗

BTW, I made a Ham for Easter for my hubby & he's having problems from the excess salt. More headaches, swelling & he doesn't feel well. I ate too much chocolate & have had a migraine for 3 days. I know better, but thought, if I only eat a little... 🥺 I'm not saying that the Easter bunny got you, too lol but I'm throwing it out there. Feel better!

Ham is delicious, but a real killer for many people.

I hear you CJ. Trying to loose weight isn't always an easy road, especially when things come up and with arthritis. Its great that you've found videos you can do. I'm interested in what vids you found. I was just thinking about the double edge sword that arthritis holds. You have to exercise so there is less pain, but when you exercise there is a lot of pain. Best wishes on your journey. If anyone can do it, it's you!

One thing at a time. If you are overwhelmed then it is hard to start. Pick one thing and stick to it. Healthy food choices are the best place to start.I am a fan of the 40-30-30 meal plan and I can't stop being impressed with it.

When I'm perusing the internet for motivational info, it helps keep me focused on eating better. It just helps keep my head in the right place. Your posts you shared were always great! Maybe you should try sharing again. Even if you just want to journal what you're going thru each day....I'm here for you.

I feel this so much! I love you and I think you’re amazing! I’m glad you’re working with your physician, praying for answers and relief of the pain and swelling ♥️

I think we gain inspiration and support from BOTH the ups and downs others share. At least I do. Health takes work, and we're not always in a good place to go all in. Medical issues can be a real hurdle, so I'm glad you're working with your doctors. Know you are loved and valued here ❤️🤗

Never, ever feel hesitant to post on FS Crystal, I assure you there is not one perfect person on this site. How do you think we all got here, by eating properly? We are here for you and we support you and we miss you and we want you here with us.

@Kenna you're so right about Ham being delicious but killer salt wise. I sometimes wish FS had an individual "like or love" button so I could show appreciation for each supportive comment. But I suppose that's been done to death on other apps. I think the support on here is phenomenal.
