Happy New Year FS friends!

My 2023 is starting off with a 🤮 literally. I drank and ate too much on NYE and came home after 1am not feeling well. I had an allergic reaction to something I ate which first made me vomit, then I broke out into hives then a full on stuffy nose. And if you're anything like me... ERs are my last resort especially in NY on NYE. So I took a Claritin and went to bed. When I woke up, the hives subsided and the nose was better. I did have a sore throat (probably part of the anaphylactic reaction) and swollen eyes (like I was boxing and lost). I'm pretty sure the allergies were from the wonderful truffle potato chips I ate. My partner in crime (8yr old daughter of my BFF) and I ate a whole bag between us. Moderation out the window... alcohol I'm sure was to blame.

I guess the universe is trying to tell me something so I am trying a New Year's resolution which I normally dont do (out loud at least). But I will try this year... out loud and in writing: I WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THE NEW YEAR IN MODERATION. There it's out in the FS universe.

Hope everyone's New Year started off as exciting as mine. 😂

Moderation is a great goal - portion control and caloric deficit will likely help us all out.

Oh dear, I’m sorry. Guess you are allergic to truffle mushrooms! Ugh! Alcohol just makes things worse for me! I get it. Ugh Feel better.

I don’t know what the active ingredient in Claritin is but you might want to consider keeping some good old Benadryl around.

Thanks everyone ! It sounds bad but for someone who is allergic to everything I’m use to it. I regularly expose my self to allergens to build some tolerance. This one was more on the painful side since it’s the first time I got sick.

I'm glad your doing better P$M eating fresh fish does me the same way except my throat close and I can't breathe.

Try to come up with many ways to support the " everything" in moderation. For example I made a rule of only eating one plate full of dinner. I tell myself that I'll get to enjoy it again the next day for lunch.

@karen I’ve always had a plan for moderation but sometimes it felt like my moderation was excessive if that made sense. But this time maybe I’ll just ignore the sense part and just stick to it.

@kenna Benadryl and Claritin work the same though direct active pharmaceutical ingredient. I had Benadryl but didn’t want to take it since I already had alcohol all night. Having to depressants I figured would not be a good.
