Fritzy 22's Journal, 07 Dec 22

I'm already thinking about goals for next year. I started 2022 with a goal to lose 5 pounds a month. Seemed easy enough, I've done it before. In 2018 I lost 50 pounds in about 7 months. It didn't work out this year. If I lose 2 more pounds by the end of the year I'll be down 20 for the year. Next year my goal will be 25 pounds, just over 2 pound a month. That has to be possible for me.

Another goal is to stop spending so much money on Amazon! I order dog and cat food -both dry food and canned food. And lots of cat litter. Dog and cat treats. And I always see stuff for me. Today I was checking on a previous order and saw that I had over 60 orders in 2022! Certainly paid for my Prime membership. Next year, no more than 2 orders a month. I also order lots on Chewy.com. Actually, most of my pet supplies. And syringes for Marco's insulin. But everytime I order something on Amazon I also get a case of canned cat food. I go through so much with 3 cats and the porch kitty.

2 goals so far. I'll keep on thinking. I need to come up with a way to enjoy cooking so I eat less processed food.

Pets sure can be expensive but they are so worth it.

Hopefully, you will be able to lose two lbs. more before the new year, and it will be a substantial seed of your next year's delicious fruit. I became disabled after neurosurgery, so my activities are minimal, but still, I have to do something for myself. It is walking. So far, it has been very effective in rebuilding my muscles and preventing emotional distress. Indeed, it is suitable for weight loss, too. How many pets do you have to feed? Nowadays, everything's price is going up to the sky. You seem to spend more money on your furry family than on yourself. I also have to prepare myself before deciding to adopt a dog or a cat.

I need those same goals. 😊 Actually I don't spend a lot on Amazon. my spending is on food. I recently started getting the dog food from chewy. Walmart kept running out and I didn't want to switch their food back and forth all the time. Definitely need to set and stick to some goals.

Got two cats and they sure do take a toll on the check book. Love them nevertheless. I order from Chewy too and am trying to reduce the orders without starving Neo and Morphis. LOL

Morticia - they are worth it, but the cost of all things pet has gone up significantly. I ordered an 11 pound bag of Blue Buffalo dry cat and it was over $40. That's not a big bag. Same with Bobby's dry food. And I ordered 48 little containers of wet food for Bobby for over $70. And cat litter, I can't even think about cat litter! I need to order another box of Greenies for Bobby but will wait a couple of weeks.

Thanks Anne - walking is really all the exercise I get. Just got back from a 30 minute walk. Other than that I might get some exercise from raking leaves or cleaning the house - vacuuming and mopping floors. I have a dog and 3 cats. If you are thinking of getting a dog or cat the only thing I would have done differently is NOT start feeding them canned food. If they like dry food well enough that's what I would feed them. But my cats BEG me for canned food. There is dry food out for them to eat whenever they want.

Thanks DP - I order lots from Chewy, maybe not quite as much as Amazon but just about. It's too easy to spend lots of money online. I looked for something to wear for physical therapy when I had leg and hip pain. Jeans didn't work, I don't wear shorts and I looked silly wearing sweat pants when it was 105 outside. I found nylon type jogging pants. Didn't know there was such a thing. Love them and ended up buying 3 more pairs! Then had to find shirts in colors to match. I don't go to the grocery store as much as I should for fresh fruits and vegetables because every time I go it's about $70. I'm thinking of other goals. Maybe something to do with the step counter - like one day a week of at least 20k steps. Maybe one day a month.

I love your goals, Fritzy! No time like the present, as they say.

Thanks Lourock1 - Sometimes I can save money by buying in bulk. It's cheaper to buy a 25 bag of food per pound than 11 pounds. At Chewy I always spend at least $50 in order to get free shipping.

Thanks Bananas - I always make goals for the new year. I try to make them achieveable but 5 pounds a month just didn't happen this year.

Thanks Sad Cabbage - When I get off track, I usually go back to what worked before. I try not to think of it as a diet but the way I need to eat. But I know what you mean - 5 years ago I was losing about 7 pounds a month and this year, trying to do about the same thing (lots of veggie stir frys) and it hasn't done much. Of course 5 years ago I was walking miles and miles whenever I could. I've bought 2 little things for the cats this year on Amazon when they showed a special deal. One is a cube with I think felt or other soft material. They can lay inside of it or sleep on top. They love it. Also got a hammock that the smallest cat can fit into. Amazon knows me too well. I get the emails that say "we think you might like this........" and usually they are right.
