Fritzy 22's Journal, 15 Oct 22

Went for a walk at 7am with Bobby. Yesterday our walk was around 3000 steps and my intent was to go 500 steps further. But didn't make it, still around 3000 steps. But what I am figuring out is that it should be easy enough for me to get 8600-11k steps in just by getting up and moving around the house a bit. I started todays walk with 1500 steps already on the counter. Just getting out of bed and walking from the guest bedroom where I slept to the master bedroom where the cats were waiting for food. Then feeding them and Bobby and walking to other rooms to turn the lights on to the deck to let Bobby out, getting Marco's insuline, etc, etc. Oh and making a drinking 2 cups of coffee. 1500 steps for that. I am just over 5000 steps now. I guess all of you who track your steps already know all this but it's new to me!

Saw a couple of deer about a block away, same spot as yesterday. Still haven't seen any at my house. If I could finish cleaning out the built in bond on the bank and fill it with nice clean water maybe the deer would come back. But if I get down on my hands and knees to finish cleaning it I won't be able to get up because of my weak thigh muscles.

What type of step counter do you use? I want one that is very simple and basic. I don't want to connect to my phone or a service.

When I was younger I could get my steps in with a couple of really long walkers but as I got older that became too difficult and I get mine in short spurts now. Like 10 plus minutes at a time more frequently.

honeebuns - I just checked Amazon for a step counter or pedometer. I just wanted something simple that I can put in my pocket. I don't want to recommend the one I got because the belt clip doesn't fit the gadget and I can't figure a way to attach the lanyard. I just put in my pocket once I am up. I will probably start looking for a 2nd cheap one just to compare at some point.

Morticia - I'm finding the steps seem to add up faster just doing thinga around the house. When I go for a walk that's all I am doing and I look and say "only 1500 steps?" But around the house I'll get a thousand steps just going back and forth to the laundry room, hanging clothes in the closet, feeding the fur babies. I did not do as much today as yesterday. Only 1 short walk. I did get back up on the bank and got the rest of the dried out mud and leaves out of the pond. Then went back to the garage to get the leaf blower and blowed everything out. Then got wet rags to try to wash out the dang thing. Lots of steps going back and forth from the garage to the garden hose to the pond. It's still not clean enough to add water. I'll wipe it again tomorrow. Right now I am an 9100 steps. Maybe I'll make it to 10k, maybe not. Really tired today. My goal is at least 8600 steps since the local said that's what most adults need to walk to avoid gaining weight.

Thanks Navywife - I hope the deer come back soon. It's really a mystery, they literally have been around my yard, maybe next door or across the street where a neighbor has fruit trees every day for the 10+ years I've lived here.

That is a mystery. Especially, knowing their habits and knowing that it is not their normal routine for so many years!
