BuffyBear's Journal, 12 Mar 15

One reason I have not been recording my food is that my meals were getting too complicated - way too many ingredients. Today I am keeping it simple.

I know...I find myself almost building an FS recipe for everything I eat to know the kcal, etc. Trying to simplify and still be able to recreate the results! Good luck :)

LuC2 - I should be doing that too.

I have entered my regular meals into the cookbook so that I can just pull that out into the food log. That way, you enter the ingredients once and have all the nutritional information. You can also save meals from your food log and re-enter them on future days. That might help with some of it.

Izzy - have done that before but everything needs updating. No excuses - it just shows I need to put more effort into this. Thanks for your support.

It's because you, LuC2, and Izzy are good cooks that you have this complication. It's just the burden of being talented!

Have pots and pans, will travel (LOL)!

it does take a while to add the recipes or enter and save the meals when a lot of ingredients are involved. But once you do it the one time...it is nice that it is saved and you can use it again. I've done that with favorite restaurants too. It really helps when you can't decide what you want to eat and you can scroll through all of your saved meals. It is like having your own menu and i it makes you realize how many choices you actually have that still keeps you on goal.

Buffy, I put nearly everything in the cookbook. I also sometimes do not log food because I don't get the recipe entered. It is time consuming and sometimes a challenge as the foods aren't there. I tend to come close then write notes in the instruction section as to what I really used.

Thanks everybody :)

I'd love to find away to add ingredients to the food list without trying to type everything in. I end up missing a required nutrient especially when I'm using foods from another country. The nutrient info does not always match FS requirements. Often it's fresh oriental veggies or bulk foods so I have no info to input without attempting to find what's needed somewhere. That's why I just try to come close and add notes in the instructions. I don't publish for public but it helps me log.

Buffy I wish I could make complicated meals...lololol. I can only make simple like tuna salad, egg salad, pork skins. Etc

Well I guess pork skins don't count...I just open the bag up and eat. :)

I have found that also with making a meal . Trying to record everything so I don't get to lax.
