#Clean Eating 🥄

What does that expression mean to you?

Do you think it's a sustainable WOE?

Do you find it to be more expensive to eat this way? If so, is it worth it to you?

Does it have to be 'organic' to be clean food?

Can't wait to hear some of your thoughts on this💙🥄💙

How funny, I'm on my way out to go grocery shopping. For me "clean" food is real food. When I eat real, unprocessed food, I don't eat as much and feel more energetic. I need to get back to eating real food. 👍

Clean eating is sustainable when you don’t deprive yourself. If you need/want a treat…plan it, track it, enjoy it! I don’t notice the cost much because I know health is wealth. Have a great week, CrystalJo74!:)

I eat a “clean” diet. About the only canned veggies I buy are tomatoes, artichoke hearts and hearts of palm. I buy both fresh and frozen fruits and veggies and keep track of the annual “Dirty Dozen” listing for produce with too many insecticides. I definitely buy organic strawberries, greens and tomatoes because they seem to hit the list every year. I enjoy going to farmer’s markets so tend to eat what is in season. The world does not want me be an intermittent faster since I am not a nice person when my blood sugar drops too low. I watch my sodium, sugar and saturated fat intake. I feel best eating 3 meals a day of mostly veggies, beans, seafood, olive oil and real whole grains (thank goodness for the instant pot). During the Covid lockdown I got away from clean eating and gained 50 lbs and became pre-diabetic. Since I started eating clean again and counting my calories, the weight is coming off AND I feel so much better!

To me eating clean has always been a reference to the “Bodybuilding diet,” chicken breasts, tuna, egg whites, oatmeal and rice. I read that expression in the Muscle and Fitness, and Flex magazines they used to sell.

Clean eating is also how I lost my weight. When I'm at home I'm pretty strict and that is ok because I enjoy that type of eating. I can really see/ feel what a difference it has made with my auto immune issues. 👍👍💜💜💪💪

@NAVYWIFESKI...I agree about allowing 'treats' to not feel deprived. I've been allowing for them all along in my weight loss journey...I have a bag of Hershey kisses on the counter and have 1 or 2 everyday! I log every single 1 of them and ENJOY every single 1!!😋 (22 cals/each)

@Cupcake_D...portion control is DEFINITELY 1 of the 🔑 to success!! Smaller plates & bowls have really helped me with that. Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment💙

I am Carnivore for 2 years now. Diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, skin problems GONE. And what else is gone, 105 pounds! whoop whoop!

Hi karen40.poole👋 Thanks for your comments today! I had never heard of the 'Dirty Dozen' list but will check that out! I don't usually buy organic (mostly cuz it's so expensive) but I do appreciate the availability here in the US. I need to start using my Instapot more, now that the heat of summer is upon us. I use mine mostly for beans, but would like to try more recipes with bulgar and other grains. 💙

@7 Percent...that's interesting (I never read those mags) but I've always thought of clean eating as kind of a 'hippie/Birkenstock ' kind of thing😂 I LOVED that era and I don't mind shopping/cooking like a flower child at all!!✌️☮️😉

We have found that while the healthy foods we are buying now may be more expensive than the processed foods we were eating before, we are still saving money by being more intentional with what and how much we eat.

Clean eating, to me, means trying to eat mostly unprocessed whole foods.
