I have a very dog reactive dog too. We have used Positive Reinforcement Training consistently (that’s the key word right there) ever since adopting him in 2020 and he is SO much better now. We use each walk as an opportunity to keep training. I know how challenging it can feel to walk a reactive pup but you can do it, if you choose. Give him a treat for me :)

Thanks Emma - I am probably the biggest problem. Bobby senses my reaction when we get close to some dogs so he starts barking. The neighbor is right across the street from us and his dogs are always on the deck barking at us when we walk past. So I just wanted to avoid getting close. I have been bringing treats and as dogs approach us I say "no bark and I'll give you a cookie". He's getting very good. I call all treats cookies. It doesn't work for squirrels, cats or deer. He can't help but bark at them.

I got my second booster already and I just drank a lot of water the day of and the day after. Just had a slight headache for about 12 hours. Just get super hydrated before and after the shot, and that will help. I also ate a boatload of strawberries and watermelon (also very high in water), which made the water taste good 😊🍓🍉

Thanks Bananas - I remember drinking water at CVS when I got my last vaccine. I bought it there while waiting for the shot. I have been drinking more water. I read online that there is no evidence drinking water before the vaccine does anything but it is recommended if I get a fever. CVS recommends drinking 16 ounces of water before the vaccine. That's where I'm going in an hour. But the reason is you're less likely to faint after the vaccine if you are hydrated. However, in any case, being hydrated is never a bad thing. I've been drinking water all morning. I'm not going to take Tylenol before the shot. The CDC website specifically said not to take it before the vaccine to try to prevent side effects. I just know that after each shot the side effects got worse. Nothing happened after the first shot, but fever and chills after the next 2. Fatigue always, but don't know if it's from the vaccine or just me. I plan on stopping at the grocery store after the vaccine since I'll be in town. I wanted to get a watermelon the last time I was there but already had more fruit than I could eat.

Thanks Sugarplum - so far so good, but I just had the vaccine 6 hours ago. The side effects didn't happen until the day after the shots for the last 2.

Hope the shot goes well. I am going back and forth on whether I should do the booster now or wait till fall... who knows.

Liv - I thought about waiting until fall but then decided to do it now because of my upcoming trip. And I really, really don't want to get it. I heard on the news that something like 40% of Covid deaths now are from vaccinated people because it loses its effectiveness over time. I got chills around 7:30 this morning, less than 24 hours after the vaccine. Also still have a fever - it's now 3pm. But the chills only lasted about an hour. Once they were gone I felt much better.

Glad you are better. Well you did it.

Keep chugging the water, Fritzy -- so good for the dehydration that a fever causes. I bet you'll be fine by tomorrow morning. The booster side effects are way easier than struggling to breathe for 3 weeks or not having the strength to make it to the bathroom (if you were to get Covid).
