Fritzy 22's Journal, 15 Apr 22

Just some random thoughts: I love my new electric wok. I am keeping it on the kitchen island and am more likely to use it than cooking with a wok on the stove. It's so easy to clean. I didn't wake up with pain in the middle of the night last night. I also didn't walk yesterday. I think there is a connection. Today I walked with walking shoes instead of the canvas shoes I had been wearing. It's okay to wear them to walk to the mailbox, but not for a mile or even a half mile. I kept today's walk short and want to see if there is pain in my calf tonight. Bobby gets so excited when he sees me putting my shoes on because he knows he gets to go for a walk. I wear slippers or socks in the house. I can't figure out the pain at the top of my thigh on the side. It is really painful for me to put shoes and socks on my right foot because it hurts when I bend the leg to reach my foot. I put the ibuprofin in the nightstand drawer and don't want to take it for the next few days to see if that is what is causing my nausea. I think I still buy too much produce at the grocery store. I really only eat one meal a day except for breakfast which usually isn't much. So if I make a salad for lunch I won't stir fry as well. I have lots and lots of celery still in the refrigerator as well as mushrooms and brussels sprouts. And carrots and I still need to try the bok choy.

Hi Fritzy 22! My name is Allegra. Pain in your upper/outer thigh sounds like it might be your IT Band. Is it in the general area of your pants pocket? Does it ever radiate downward? Have you ever heard of Self-Myofacial Release (SMR), or foam rolling? You may benefit from rolling both your calves and your IT Band. If you look up, "IT BAND SMR," and, "Calf SMR" on YouTube you will find tons of videos. I can also post a few links if you are interested. You will need a foam roller, but those are pretty cheap on Amazon. Pain is the pits, but foam rolling really does help!

thanks Allegra - I looked up IT band syndrome and it doesn't sound like what I have. The pain is not near my knee or my pants pockets. I go back to the doctor in just over a week and I'll see what he says.

I hope you can find out what is causing that pain, and I wish you the best.

Thanks Buenita and Katsolo. I didn't have calf pain last night. I'm pretty sure it was the shoes I was wearing to walk didn't have much support. I had calf & leg pain in January that was sciatic nerve pain. But I think that has healed after physical therapy. The pain at the top of the thigh is puzzling. I can't cross my right foot over to my left knee to put on shoes or socks because it hurts too bad and it's starting to happen on the other side as well. I've been shopping online for slip on shoes!
