Today I discovered my LDL is high, in spite of a pretty good diet. I am sad to have to give up eggs and cheese, two things I really like. Also shrimp and lobster! Since hitting menopause, I have had issues with increasing blood pressure, having to lower salt intake, and now this. I guess I didn't get the good genes on this one! I will have to go forward carefully. I think I should consult with my Dad on this one, since he is doing well, and it looks like I have the genes from his side of the family. Hopefully, losing weight and getting my BMI below 24 will also help.

Whoa! Before you alter your diet, do some research. LDL is a very controversial topic. Here's a video to get you started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsISdNl2tWo. I went through this recently and my doc ended up saying that the LDL was not so important at the HDL and Triglycerides. Good luck - it's a rabbit hole!

Agreed Ericka. I watched my mom remove almost all fat and cholesterol containing food from her diet. All she accomplished was an unpleasant diet and still had high LDL. Bodies produce cholesterol. Sometimes the radical diet is a trigger to produce more. I am using a Ceylon Cinnamon w/Berberine supplement very successfully. I also take the minimum dose of Fenofibrate. It is a non-statin drug that does not cause muscle spasms. With weight loss my cholesterol numbers are half what they were a year ago.

I don't have the details on your individual situation and family history but losing weight and getting your BMI down will almost certainly help. We usually see improvements in LDL, blood pressure and glucose with the loss of body fat and getting it back into a healthy range for you.

Best of luck to you . If you go on the Myo clinic website, there are low cholesterol recipes that may help. You can still eat the eggs ,just do the egg whites they have no cholesterol in them and only once in a while, have a whole leg.
