BekkaL85's Journal, 07 Apr 11

Emotional eating is still in check, which is good. But, depression is lurking everywhere. I don't really move around alot...just sit on the couch. Tomorrow I'm going out fabric shopping with my sister, so that will get me out of the house and moving. I do need to figure out a way to get some more protien in my diet. Except for an occiasonal good piece of steak and chicken, I don't really care for meat. But I do realize that I need to fit more into my diet, so I'm trying to figure out what to do. I've been slipping veggies in my food. Broccoli in my wraps, spinach in my mini pizzas...but I feel that I could be doing better. On the plus side I'm only slightly more than 2 pounds to my first goal!!!! Woot!!! It makes me excited to step on the scale. The fear that it will go up is always there, but now there is a little tingle of excitement...that maybe it'll go down more than just a pound or two...maybe I'm not imagining things when I think that my pants are slipping and my shirts are hanging down a little farther than normal. And THAT is a great feeling!

Congrats to you, sounds like you have a good plan. As far as protein, try a low calorie protein shake or snack bar to help increase your protein. It fills you up and keep you that way for a while and gives you the nutrients you need. Keep going...your goal is right there :)

I eat tons of protein, you're welcome to browse my food journal for ideas. Tilapia gives you the most bang for your buck proteinwise because it's so low in fat. Plus it's DELICIOUS. Besides meat & seafood, eggs/cheese/Greek yogurt are all great protein sources & low in fat (assuming you don't eat the yolk & choose a lower fat cheese).

I like thin deli sliced meats, they have 45 calories for 4-6 slices dependant on the brand. I also like the imitation crab, but both can be high in sodium. Good on putting more veggies in. Can you go out for a walk, do yard work? Any activity is better than sitting and getting depressed. It will get your mind and but off of the couch. Do you like to color, or sew, any craft hobby can help divert you and also burns some calories. To bad you can't leash the wheasle and take it for a walk. Great about the loose clothes. You are doing well to keep losing with so much stress.

Apparently I can't paste a web link here, it loses the link, but if you check my journal today I found an interesting article on how to be an emotional eater and stay slim.

I just had a mental image of trying to get weasel into a leash and then going outside....and had to bust out laughing! He's still pretty young, and almost anything he sees he wants to play with...it would definetly be an adventure!

I'm a fan of light laughing cow cheese (texture like cream cheese), and I put it on celery. I agree with Kat on the greek yogurt - it's like creamy yogurt, and very high in protein! It's awesome! Hang in there, things will start looking up - just focus on the little good things that happen!
