My knee is visibly swollen today and hurting. I am so discouraged. I don't even know what I did other than edging my flower gardens the other day, which is sort of an unusual movement. I stood on my not great leg while stomping the edger with my good leg. Maybe I was twisting? I don't know how I can lift heavy and also walk a brisk 10 miles regularly with no problems and now... GRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Here is a dark red rose for Nikina70! The truest color is in the first picture, but the striping of red on red is a bit more visible in the other more washed out picture. My darn camera hates to focus properly on anything red. The reds are like cranberry and dark cherry... Well, that is the best I can describe them anyway.

Thank you, Amyjo! I'm happy you like the roses. I post pictures of my flowers often because they bring me joy and are part of my health journey... Both physical and mental. ❤️🌹❤️

So sorry to hear of your pain returning. I’ve been dealing with a knee issue myself but I must say I’ve been in Physio for a week and already I’m feeling so much improvement. I religiously do my Physio at home and exactly what I’m told. I’ve had Physio for different things and I’m a firm believer that it works if we do it. I’m sorry it hasn’t seem to do that for you. For me when I’m consistent with what they tell me, it works wonders so I’m believing my knee will be back to normal sooner than later. I hope you can find something that works for your knee Melissa. ❤️👍🏻

Oh, I cannot forget these beautiful flowers. Your beauties just get better and better with every post. The hydrangeas I think are my favorite. I see so many varieties in my neighborhood when I’m walking but none of them come close to what yours look like. You literally must have hundreds of them. 💕

Thank you, Shir and wifey! I'm so glad you enjoy my roses! Wifey, I only have five bushes of hydrangeas, but they are fun colors. I love them so much! ♥️

I'm sorry, wifey, that you are having knee problems but happy you are getting results. Unfortunately, my pt experience was not so great. I went three times and saw three different people. Their focus was all different. It cost so much that for the last time I just said, please tell me exactly what you think would be the very best exercises to do at home... And I have tried to do them the best I could. Good old medical system here... It was $45 per 15 minutes. I ended up paying $500 for those three visits. Yes, we have health insurance, but the deductible is very high so the first few thousand is on us. 😭 I'm distressed to go back to the Dr because I suspect they will want to do tests and imaging and more pt. It will be so costly.....

Oh, and the $45 per 15 minutes was after the huge charges to just have the therapists diagnosed and do the paperwork set up. It was the knowledge of what it would cost me going forward that made me quit. That was last year, so now we have started alll over again paying fantasticly high bills for health care.

Oh Melissa that cost is outrageous. I went for an assessment which runs for one hour and I had to pay $100 because I do not have insurance to cover physio. We are transitioning with hubby’s job and it doesn’t kick in until August but I was not willing to wait another month to start working on my issue once I had the results from my doctor and the x-rays. During the assessment my physiotherapist did all kinds of stuff and went over everything with me and then started on all the exercises that I would do at home. When we reached the one hour mark I said I guess my time is up and that’s as far as we will get today. But he was amazing and said no we will finish what I started and don’t worry about going over the time. I was there more than 1.5 hours and it was excellent. Good ole Canada right. LOL The Physio is not covered under our healthcare system But I think the rates are reasonable and I’ve had Physio for many different things over the years and I’ve always returned the same therapist each time for whatever treatment I was getting. I’m so sorry your situation is so different and you’ve had three different people deal with your knee with different ideas. I truly hope you find something that helps at some point and somehow can’t afford to return for help if possible.

I feel your pain with the insurance & cost. We had really good affordable health insurance thru Hubby's employer even after retirement. The company he worked for went bankrupt so we lost our coverage. We did have compensation for awhile to pay for private insurance/ medical costs. Hubby was on Medicare but I had to get private insurance that was very expensive with a high deductible. Eventually our extra compensation ended & we had to pay out of pocket. The single most wonderful reason for turning 65 was I finally qualified for Medicare & our exorbitant costs ended!

Hi all, well I'm heading back to the sports med Doc on Friday to see if there are further recommendations. I'm suspecting imaging, which I'll need to pay for, but I want to know what is wrong. I am glad, wifey, that your knee is getting better and you feel confident in your care. That is really important! SherryeB, we have had a lot of struggle with insurance too. For the longest time we had catastrophic care for our family only. For a while It was about $800 a month with 15,000 dollar per person deductible and zero preventative care. (We took the kids to the health department to get immunizations). Yes, that is the correct number of zeros and... insanity! Being "self employed" made for some tough choices. Things have changed so much for the better for us for insurance! Thank God and the affordable care act. Now I am just whining about a couple thousand dollar deductible, but we have so much better care now for so much less cost to us. I really am grateful. I am just cross with my dumb knee! I miss running and I miss doing stuff without pain. It has been since September that it got hurt, and I thought I was managing well enough. Maybe I will again without much intervention, and it just needs to calm down! I'm hoping!!! It sucks getting older! And thanks, guys for the encouragement and for your kind words about my flowers. They do mean an awful lot to me!

Melissa, I hope you get some answers so you can get on the road to recovery. I know it's frustrating to start a healthy lifestyle with better eating & exercise...then to get sidelined by an injury. Sending lots of positive vibes your way 💕❤💞🌷🌻

I kind of feel your pain here. A few months ago my knee started hurting... more so after I sit for a while. I can't figure out why! I've been to Ortho and they said there's nothing wrong with it. Then why is it hurting daily?

Thank you, SherryeB, I really appreciate that! Mandee, I am really sorry you are having troubles too. Mine started in September. I took months off running and lifting heavy, and when the pain just never seemed to totally go away I just started going a bit harder and walking a hit faster... Although never back to running. As long as it didn't get worse, I kept pushing. It is worse suddenly. So annoying and.... Darn it hurts. 😕

Sorry to hear about your knee problems. It sure does make it hard to move with that kind of pain.

Thought I'd post an update on this post complaining of my knee. Sports med doc basically said keep doing the exercises I already know. If I really want to run again they can do MRI and see if repair is possible. Probably a miniscus issue along with the IT band issue. I'm. On anti-inflammatories for a couple weeks to see if it will calm down. I can work out as much as my knee isn't made worse... Lighter, shorter less far is the word for a bit. I'm hoping things will be better. Guess I'm at an age things start to fail a bit. Blah... 😭 I'll do what is recommended and take it slow and try to ease the pressure on the darn limb! At least I wasn't told to totally do nothing!!! Yay! 😁

That's good news! Just do what you can do, baby your knee and hopefully you'll be back at full speed soon.
