Not sure exactly what variety of Prednisone I've taken before, but whenever I've needed it - my stomach gnaws like I'm starving ALL the time, and I've always put on between 5 and 10 pounds in what seemed like a week! Good job really watching your intake right now. I am praying that you won't have any of the annoying side effects, and that God would secure your weight so it doesn't go up during the course of treatment. Amen.

Thank you Debbie. One thing I'm noticing is my sleep. Last night I only got I guess a total of 3 hrs. Not good. But I read that it was one of the side effects. I too have taken the drug before after my back surgery. And I blew up like wow. is all I can say. I did not like it at all lol. I'm not sure if it's the same thing I'm taking now. but foot just the mention of the drug gets me feeling sick. Thank you for including me in your prayers

Steroids always make me gain. Ugh! I don’t know about the one you mentioned but steroids and the mean snarly scale go hand in hand. The important thing is to feel better. Then deal with the weight. Maybe you won’t gain this time!

I've had Steroid shots when I get really sick w/the flu, but I"ve never gained weight from it bc I've always been really active and I only eat mostly protein. Protein helps heal anything faster always. =)

I’ve used steroids and although they made me ravenously hungry, it also made me motivated to move. Extra yard work, walking etc. Yes less sleep. I also think you should talk to your doctor and/or pharmacist about concerns, sometimes they can prescribe something different with perhaps different side effects.

I’m just finishing a year of prednisone and did gain about 10 pounds on it. It was for inflammation of the arteries in my temple. Try to exercise and avoid carbs to prevent weight gain. At the highest doses (60 mg) I had a lot of energy but didn’t actually feel that hungry.

I occasionally take methylprednisolone for my asthma. It doesn't effect my weight unless I take a strong dose.
