This week's experiment (forcing protein) has come to a premature end. I am gaining weight, bloated, and not enjoying my meals.
Am going back to the way I was eating 2 weeks ago. I was enjoying my WOE and losing weight. What was wrong with that?
At least I can say I tried.

I tried changing up last year and slammed up against the proverbial wall for months. Greed. Wanted to lose more then 1lb/wk. Went back to my old way of eating pretty much, cut the fats, have increased the protein and it's slowly slowly slowly coming down. Good luck and I hope you can get back on track with losing.

Finding what works for you is the key… and part of that can be finding out what doesn't work… so, good for you! xoxox

Good for you! If it makes you miserable, it's not worth it.

Yep. Stick with what works, Buffy! Sorry you got detoured a bit, but glad to hear you'll be going back to what was working for ya. :D

I agree with Suzi....if it makes you miserable, it's unsustainable. Wishing you luck with switching back to your tried and true!!!

If it is wrong, it is wrong, no matter what someone else says should be right. At least you gave it a try. And, you knew when to stop giving it a try and go with your gut feeling (pun kind of intended).

Buffy meat is for type O blood people, if you get bloated and do not enjoy eating it.. then you are one of the fruit, vegetable and bread eaters.. Type likes bread but it doesn't like us :)

Rob - Appreciate your support. And, like you said, it was just a bit of a detour. No harm, no foul.

Ruth - I so agree - experiment paid off, just not in way intended.

Suzi161 - Thanks! Now if it did work, guess I'd just have had to be miserable :)

Sandy - Great point on "sustainability". After all, that has been my goal all along.

Darlene - you are right. I need to stop comparing myself to others. Thanks again!

I also cut back slightly on the protein and am now aiming for 75 grams, not the 100 I started out with.

Everyone is different, and maybe increasing your protein is not for you. I know that once when I was around 16 or so, I had a round with tonsillitis, and ate nothing but egg noodles for a week. I lost 5 pounds!! Go with what works for you!

erwinwarrior - I averaged 77 grams/day during a week when I was doing well. That seems very doable without any "heroic efforts".

pumakitten - I'll agree! I just peeked at your food journal and your protein intake is quite low - and look how well you are doing!

Draglist - I was surprised to hear your comment because I thought you were doing this "by the numbers". I really appreciate you sharing that! Maybe we need new "numbers".

Buffy, go back to what makes you feel good. I had tried Atkins about 3 years ago, it had worked years before, I simply felt sick to my stomach all the time. I could also choke down the additional fat. Back to adapting what made me feel good and it works for me.
