BekkaL85's Journal, 19 Jan 11

Yesterday was hard. Very hard. All I wanted was some more food and soda and....not an easy day. My husband was of no help. He just said to go ahead and have what I wanted because I have been good for a week. He's not trying to hurt me. He's just trying to make me happy. But I decided to get far away from the kitchen and everything delicious. I took a hot bath with some fizzies and a good book and Nickelback playing in the background.

What I hate the most is going to bed hungry. My least favorite thing. When I wake up I'm fine. But a rumbly tummy is horrible. What feels worse though is eating something and then feeling even worse mentally.

I'm gonna deep trying though. Even if I weigh in and there is no change. Trying is the important part.

I'm just watching what I eat and how much I eat. I've tried all the well known diets. Atkins, medifast...everything. They worked but the weight didn't stay off, so I'm trying the old fashioned way. What are you doing?

I hate going to bed hungry too so I did some soul searching to figure out why and came to the conclusion that my mom used to "send us to bed hungry" if we were bad. just like she would give us sweets if we were good- she trained me to see food as a punishment or reward so now i use it as both (less and less everyday!)maybe this is familiar?

Very Familiar Tiramisa! If I did good in school I got a ding dong. If I behaved in the store I good jolly ranchers. If I was bad I got nothing. Not to say that I place the blame entirely at her feet, but she did help frame how all three of her children think about food. Now...to work past it.

Yeah im doing same thing, eating pretty much what i like just very small portions and exercise daily. You feel hungry in the beginning but just make sure you are getting enough calories, (I wasnt at first)but after a week or so it gets better.

Don't go to bed hungry! Have a glass of skim milk, a cup of cocoa, low-sugar cereal with milk. I even find that a cup of grapefruit sections will fill me up. Whole grains and fruits and veggies are very filling. I've just discovered great chicken burgers that are 150 calories. Last Sunday I got hungry in the middle of the afternoon so I nuked a chicken burger. I felt much better and I didn't have anything to feel guilty about. As you move forward, you're going to figure out all the things that drive you nuts about dieting. You've figured out one of them now: going to bed hungry. So stop doing it.

I have been drinking herbal tea at night with splenda. I also bought sugar free jello snacks, and handy cup soup (low calorie watch servings, low fat string cheese, low fat yogurt. I also drink more water at night. It does make me have to get up often, but fills me up. I cleaned ut the pantry and got rid of all bad chips, crackers and snacks. I tell myself I am only going to eat 1 serving and ent up munching more before I know it. I found myself looking for them and then remembering I had gotten rid of them. OMG I had to eat fruit, and veggies in fridge. lol. If you can shop and have healthy things in house and get rid of bad it is better. If hubby isn't supportive, and wants or brings in bad food, be strong. It is more worth losing weight and being healthy in the long run for you and your kiddies if yo have them.
