BuffyBear's Journal, 17 Jun 13

Did not do too well at all the Father's Day festivities yesterday but will go forward from here.

My goal for the next few days is to keep my carbs under 30. After I get that under control I'll attack the calories. All this counting will remind me to record - another old forgotten habit to relearn.

This is a belated "Thanks" going out to all who responded to my Journal yesterday.

Sounds like a perfect plan. No sense crying over spilled carbs - LOL! Keep focusing on the positive going forward!

Sandy - I'll try to always keep that in mind. Am off now for a walk. Hope I remember how it is done.

One day or meal or bite at a time, my friend, with each being a new chance to start again! Thinking of you! xoxox

It is difficult going to parties. I went nowhere so I had no problems. I am not close to my family members, so I don't get invited anywhere but maybe Christmas Eve and this year I am not going, I will stay home... hopefully I will be moved by then - December 1.

Glenn - I realize my situation is different than yours, but still I have to find a way to deal with temptation.

Bren - I always appreciate your encouragement - and need it. There is still an apple pie sitting on in my kitchen counter.

One day at a time, Buffy. I'm doing it along with you.

Buffy - we all do. I live alone. My uncle did not lose weight (I don't know him that well) my mother said until my aunt (my mom's sister) stopped buying the cookies and junk food. He lost over 100 lbs. It took a year or two. They go for a mile walk every morning at a park. They are retired. I realize as I live alone there's no need for there to be cake or pie or potato chips around. If I lived with kids, I would surely have a horrible time trying to cut calories when kids can devour them and sometimes not gain (now the kids are inactive so they're bloating up - and on top of it the parents don't get strict with food).

Heather - Great to have such a worthy partner!

Glenn - 100 pounds - good for him! You should be so proud of your uncle.

Hi Buffy! I must start watching carbs again too. We will do it!

Buffy - I don't know him well. I saw him after a few years as he lives a half-mile from my mom's house with my aunt and I asked how he lost it. I don't know him well. My family is not close, but yes, it is great of him to take control. My mom told her sister (my aunt) to buy no more junk food like chips or sugary cookies and cakes. That did it alone. If one is still buying chips and cake and pie and ice cream every week they're going nowhere down on the scale. Harsh advice, but true. And some men want their wives fat (for real) so no other men will 'steal' them away!
