Kim4dogNite's Journal, 19 Feb 20

Really trying to get motivated. My stress level has been 9.5 out if 10 for a year now. Husband had 3 surgeries, a cancer scare, and now has Prednisone Induced Diabetes from the long term use for his Crohns Disease. He started Remicade yesterday so hopefully that will be under control soon.

FIL died in April. I lost my job of caretaker to my MIL. Her Alzheimers progressed and we moved her to NY into Skilled Nursing. Less worry for me, but having trouble getting a job. Hopefully that will change soon, in the meantime I do nails out of the house, I also make and sell wax melts, candles, soap and jewelry. So I am contributing.

I enjoy tracking my food. But I also enjoy my wine at night. Helps me sleep. It is time to put that to rest for a while and find a better method. I am tired of feeling fat. I need to stop being the caretaker and do a little self care. I need to remind myself of this.

Hope you can find your diet mojo. It is hard sometimes. That healthy has to override some of the other pleasures. Often no other way around it. You are in good company here.

Oh my, such serious stress. Has your husband ever been prescribed Humira? My brother was one of the first to use it for Crohn's. He only has minor flares and no infusions. My prayers 🙏 are with you.

You can't take care of others unless you take care of yourself. Have to have something left to give. Glad you're working on taking care of you! :) We're here for you. You got this!

Erquiaga, he has. He has been on Humira, Cimzia, Tysabri, Methotrexate, Immurane, etc. In 2008 he developed Pyoderma Gangrenoseum while on Remicade so they tried all the other meds to treat that. He did not respond. They are doing Remicade again because his Crohns is severely infamed. Fingers crossed. Thanks for all of the kind words.

Kim. I have been dealing with some very similar struggles. It's hard to take care of yourself when others depend on you but as hard as it is, newnormal is right. You have to take care of yourself so you're fit for those who depend on you. Sending love and motivation your way sis because you got dis!!!!!

Try hot tea....it is good to replace wine with something vs. just eliminate. You will want a "comfort" habit. Herbal non - caffeinated tea of course.

Kim, I like my wine as well. When I started my journey again in July I did an alcohol free month. It wasn't that difficult. After that I reintroduced having a glass of wine or 2, but I limit my intake. I leave room in my RDI to include wine when I plan to have it.

You & yours have gone through so much, I not only sympathize with you, I can empathize as well. we lost my Stepfather in May of 2018, then my Stepsister Nov 2018, then my Uncle Jan 2019 & then lost my dear Brother July 2019. Two years of loss has pushed my Mom into onset of dementia & me into an eating flurry. I've recharged my batteries & am back at it. The people here at FS are my friends, confidants & my family. Never forget you have people here at FS🙋🌹
