tahoebrun's Journal, 09 Jul 19

Good morning everyone - I have read a lot of journals this week from people that are really struggling. It made me reflect that I had to get to a place in life where I became a priority in my life. I had to stop waiting for others to do something to make me happy, or be respected or healthy or loved...those are all my responsibility - my job. I got clean and sober a long time ago and when I stopped trying to run everything and discovered how to be OK with who I am...life got different. when I realized I had a problem with food - I applied the same principals and life got different. when I got sick and things had to change...you got it - I made me a priority and started being responsible for taking care of myself. Now - I did have lots of help (My wife is really a saint) and I have a spiritual path that I walk. but I did not make these changes for anyone else...I have been shown a path to be the best version of myself that I can be and I strive to be that. I don't always succeed, I fail and stumble along the way; but, I get up, assess, adjust and get back on the move. today I am valuable. I hope that you all find your value on your journey.

Well said. Life is really a puzzle, getting the pieces coordinate properly takes time, effort and a conscious effort. Discipline, balance being in the moment goes a long way. Stay well, be you.

Truth - in my experience we go through a lot before we realize that we are 100% responsible for our own happiness and expecting other people to make us happy and healthy physically and mentally just allows us to not be responsible for ourselves which doesn't work. Do things that give you joy and make yourself the top priority - this makes us better for all of those around us!
