I need to totally rearrange my diet and lack of exercise moving forward. I literally haven’t been to the gym in months—but need to start doing more to get moving. Any suggestions for a kick start ?

I can’t stand working out in a gym, so I just danced like a maniac on the floor at home! And the weight started to drop off of me.

I'm on the intermittent fasting 16 / 8 seems to be working for me. look up RESET U .it's free and they send you a message from messenger anytime they have an update and it is all free they have a lot of information and they do calls to you if you want and they send you free literature about things. it's very interesting look it up. IF (intermittent fasting)

I'm new to this group and am finding all of the comments interesting and helpful. I need an accountability partner! I think I would be better if I had someone to help me stay in check!

I agree. The gym is not for me. Doing a few stretches and exercises on the internet plus walking anywhere I can. Inside at a mall and outside weather permitting.

Rnbwell— at the end of the day, that inner You is the best accountability partner you can have.

get the book "Complete Guide to Fasting" by Dr Jason Fung. it talks about the various fasting methods, how to best use them and inspiring stories to help you with your journey. I Intermitent fast daily, and combined that with extended fasts and Keto. in 18 months, I am no longer type 2 and lost 75 pounds. from a men's size 46 waist for pants to a size 36 now. no exercise.... that's the best part. the success for me was Intermitent fasting, extended fasts and Keto.

a body in motion tends to stay in motion. a body at rest tends to stay at rest. "Just Keep moving forwards". if you start going backwards you will keep moving backwards. Like Nola mommy said, "Just go". Just do it.

I find that I set up 'strings' of behaviours to pull me forward. For example if I am going to go to the gym (heaven forbid not my favorite place lol) I pack a gym bag the night before, I set my alarm, dress in gym wear, have my morning breakfast and routines that lead me out the door. With my gym clothes on and my work clothes in the gym bag it is easier to go to the gym, do the routine, shower dress and off to work. When I am stuck I set up 'strings of behaviours' that lead me where I want to go. For me, right now, the order in the morning is: Get up, do a lymphatic massage (had breast cancer and need to do this for fluid retention in my arm), get dressed, pour myself a kombucha, do FS where I read the posts, plan my meals click off my exercise which leads me to setting up my yoga video and my utube dance music. I do the video, then click over to the music and dance like a crazy lady then go for at least a 5 min walk outside giving me just over an hour of exercise and finally breakfast. This is all on my daily list which also is a motivator for me as I want to cross it off! Also if I skip anything then the list stares at me until I do it! The point is the longer you do a 'string of behavour' the more you don't have to think about it. Just do the first thing and then the habit pulls you to the end.

I like your ideas since it is so easy for me to get side tracked. Good suggestions to get into a new habit. thx, Carol!

I do YouTube videos in the house when I cannot get out. And have dumbbells for lifting. You can do it. Even if it is just half an hour you can do much good

Go for a walk. Even 10 -15 minutes is better than nothing. I just tried Zumba. Not my favorite but it got me out of the house.

Signing up for a race (maybe a 5K if you're just starting?) a few months away is good motivation.

If you want to get into running, or even walking more regularly, I suggest the app ‘running for weight loss’. It starts off slow and builds up the intensity as the weeks go on. It always helps me to get back in shape without killing my body in the first week

I feel your pain! Time yourself doing all the things you really dread. Then, when like myself, sitting on the sofa I can decide 10 min is not so long and do that 10 min walk or 10 mins unloading the dishwasher. lol

I have dumbbells and kettle bells right next to my computer at home. I committed to 20 minutes 3 times a week to 'get started'. Only later did I then get into the gym regularly. Now, with the crowded gym for the next month or so it looks like I will be back to my dumbbells for a bit...

change something that your body has gotten used too. I removed sugar and bread and then one thing led to another. I've dropped almost 60 lbs by focusing on nutrition and healthy eating. Six pack abs are born in the kitchen.
