Family party today to celebrate my baby turning 21! He went out with his girlfriend last night and had his first (legal) drink. Today: healthy choices for food (with a few chips and hot dogs thrown in for good measure). I've been marinating chicken since yesterday afternoon and it's going to be YUMMY! I've adapted a Korean BBQ marinade. And... I have my trademark "candy bar" out but with only 4 types of candy this time (my son's favorites). I've been remarkably good at keeping away from it! It's funny... now that I recognize sugar=inflammation for me, I'm not even tempted.

The wraps look like (amazingly beautiful) fresh spring rolls with shrimp. (Amiright?)

The wraps are Vietnamese spring rolls. There's a bakery/restaurant across the street from our house that makes them. There are vegetables, a piece of sausage, and two shrimp in each one, and a wonderful dipping sauce. They were very popular! Surprisingly, that bowl of chips was still half full at the end of the party. Everyone sampled, but no one over-indulged. It's nice to see my family and friends enjoying themselves with tasty food without going too far. I had healthy delicious salads, cantaloupe, Korean BBQ chicken, and "Buddha Bowl Sweet and Salty Popcorn". So good!!! Lots of gluten free options for our friends who are GF. I even found gluten free ice cream cones, so the kids had ice cream and had a great time. My sister brought a decadent bakery cake all dense and frosting. I had half a piece and was glad I did, but that was enough! Yikes. I have no idea how many calories I ate today and I don't care.
