Today was the doctor's appointment I swore I was going to make. The above weigh-in was fully-clothed at 1:45 pm. I was relieved it wasn't higher. I have to preface this by telling you that I own my weight. I have struggled with weight and self-image for a very long time. I am not looking for excuses. This recent rapid increase was a bit alarming, however, and I do have a multitude of medical issues. As a result, I have been researching vitamin deficiencies, widespread inflammatory disease, and auto-immune disorders. Many of my symptoms, when you put them all together, could fall into any one (or all) of these categories. I have to tell you, I am so happy I switched to a Naturopathic MD. He listened to all my woes and is running a multitude of tests. He is looking at me as an entire person, not just a multitude of symptoms to treat with a multitude of prescriptions. Aside from the blood tests, I'm on a diuretic for the next few days. He was concerned when he heard no sounds in my abdomen and worries it might actually be filled with fluid. We're going to try this to see if I'm retaining; if nothing changes, we'll do an ultrasound. We talked about our goal (OUR GOAL!) for the year being to reduce the weight and get off the PPI (which I take for hiatal hernia). Long-term use of PPIs can lead to a lot of issues, some of which I may already be suffering from. (He suspects it is inhibiting proper digestion and running tests to check on the others.) He understands and fully supports me trying to heal myself through nutrition and is poised and ready to help me do that. I feel like if I am able to find the right way to nourish my body, all my symptoms will go away and weight loss will be the bonus! SO... all that being said, I am restarting my diet today even thought we haven't actually begun a program. I want to keep track of this latest journey and today is day one.
