ruthe1213's Journal, 18 Oct 17

I was the biggest loser at TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) for the third week in a row this week. My keto plan includes Hcg 1234 drops and I haven't been hungry on VLC and very low carbs. I don't sleep well, haven't for a long time so do get tired during the day making me tempted to eat for energy. Trying to do all the things which are purported to help sleep. Considering a new supplement. Didn't get my 15 minutes. direct sun yesterday. Just heard it's better to get morning sun instead of afternoon. Also sometimes I get stomach pain a few hours after eating and am then tempted to eat comfort foods. Having had all the tests, docs didn't figure out what causes the pain. Took multivitamin and B complex with meal a couple of days ago before the pain began so had just the multivitamin today and no pain yet. Think that this journaling is beneficial for weight loss and responding to others is also beneficial hopefully to others as well as to me. Hope it's okay to post pics other than food pics.

I've had trouble sleeping for years. It's worse now that I'm retired. What you said about being tempted to eat comfort food after experiencing stomach pain - I had really bad pain over the weekend, higher than my stomach, around the ribs and going to the back. I made an appointment to see my doctor but before the appointment I went to the grocery store and bought things I don't usually buy: Campbell's chicken noodle soup, saltine crackers, applesauce, cream of wheat. For some reason I thought these items sounded like they would soothe my insides. Haven't eaten any of it.

Your symptoms sound like gall bladder. Congratulations for not eating the comfort foods you were tempted to eat.

Ruthe1213 - I asked my doctor about my gall bladder. He didn't think that was the problem but ran lots of tests to check. Got a call today that all the lab tests were normal. I will probably still eat the food I bought at some point. Anyway after talking to my doctor he was pretty sure it was brought on by extreme stress/anxiety I'd been feeling ever since fires broke out close to home and I had to evacuate. I'm feeling better now and once it rains I'll calm down until next summer! It's amazing what anxiety can do to you. Hope you can figure out what is causing your pain.

Yuck, been there. While at my chiropractor's, he felt my gallbladder and said it was inflated, but wouldn't tell me what to do about it, just, "Ask your doctor." So I researched it and found that apple cider vinegar is good, and to take 1 Tbsp. 10-15 min. before each meal. I did, and when I saw my dr. about a week later, she felt my gallbladder and said it was fine. Nailed it! :) Then a year later I had different stomach stuff going on -- was tested and they found I had h. pylori, which is the bacteria that causes ulcers. Took lemongrass oil for that. Score! :) Now I have DIFFERENT belly issues and all the symptoms point to one to two parasites called Blastocystis hominis and/or Dientamoeba fragilis. They are often found together. Gut buddies I guess. :P So I need to be tested for those! Geez, what's up with all the tummy trouble, anyway?

Regarding sleep, have you tried melatonin or valerian root? Non-habit forming, but I know depending on what meds you're on already (I only say that because I'm on a lot of meds), you might want to run it by your doctor to make sure they're okay for whatever you're already on.

Have you had the tests to make sure your gall bladder is ok?
