kitty-eared-girl's Journal, 10 Dec 16

...I guess FS took away their formatting options for journals?

I hit the gym three times this past week. I'd been optimistic for five, but life got me down and I gave in to skipping to sulk at home in my pjs. We found out this week that my office will be closing within the next year or two because my company has made the decision that the product we service isn't profitable enough.

While a year or two is plenty of time to line something up, and the company will be giving sixty days notice and severance, its still depressing. It hurts knowing that, through no fault of my own I'm having what I thought was going to be my future pulled out from under me, and there's absolutely nothing I can do about it. I plan to keep my eye out for internal postings for the other divisions, but the issue there is I'd have to get permission to work from home the majority of the time -- the shortest commute would end up being two hours one way.

That is a hard hit. Maybe time to explore some things that really fulfill you and you want to do and look for opportunities in those areas? I don't know but I got laid off from my job after 9/11/2001 and it was a sudden hit. I did have my part time massage job on the side which turned into a full time job and career. I never had time to look for another job. The Hawaiians believe our Future is Behind us-which means in part that we can't see it, it is unknown. You can only control what's in front of you at the moment. May I suggest Marie Kondo's "The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up" if you haven't already read it?

That's always the worst. I hate that feeling of impending doom. BUT, my best advice is find the silver lining and be as optimistic as you can. It's not easy, but nothing worthwhile is I suppose. You'll be OK, though. Really. (((HUGS)))

Kitty, so sorry about your news. I know it's a huge derailment. Especially with you just getting settled in your new home. Here's to something new and wonderful being in place at the right time. Putting good vibes out there for you.❤

I was fired from a job March 1st of 2013 as they needed to make a spot for the owner's wife - no notice, no nothing.... I was then called on March 4th by a competitor who heard about the situation and offered me a job. It was less money but a 10 minute commute vs an hour and 15 minutes each way. I have now been with this company almost 4 years. Less money but so much less stress

It's always a little scary when you don't know what's next. But who knows - maybe it will be something better?
